hi there !
last night i created an avi with two audio tracks (both vbr mp3) using gknot. the problem is that the playback (i use wmp 6.4 with morgan stream switcher) is very choppy. sometimes the video freezes for 1 or 2 seconds while audio keeps playing.
this problem seems to occur because of the two audio tracks.
when i play the xx_movie.avi file (the movie created by gknot before the audio is muxed into) it plays without any difficulties, perfectly smooth.
when i mux one of the two audio tracks into the movie-only file by hand (using nandub) it also plays perfectly, not choppy at all.
has anyone experienced this kind of problem ? could it be a problem of the combination wmp+mss ? any hints are welcome..

I'm not sure but I think it's once again the limitation of the avi format, which is not suited for vbr audio. I always had problems, too, when putting 2 vbr tracks in an avi file. It seems to work better with 1 cbr and 1 vbr track. Do the one that you listen to more often in vbr.
ATM there is a discussion going on about the creation of a new a/v format, so I'm counting on this to solve these kinds of problems.

hi sibe !
thx for your answer, but i have to apologize. the problem is not the avi file or its audio streams, it's my computer! the same file runs nice with two audio-streams on my friends machine.
sorry, should have tested that first...

ps: but i sure would love a new a/v format :)

Hi,
Chiken I was wondering how you solved this problem ? I have the exact same problem. Also it goes away if I use graphedit and put the morgan stream switcher before the decoder. So to me it seems that the problem comes from the decoder: IIS Mpeg layer 3 decoder. It seems that there can't be two instance of it working at the same time. I get those two decoders : MPEG Layer 3 decoder and MPEG Layer 3 decoder 0007. Maybe someone experience this already and can tell me what I should do.
Thanks
p.s: I have a amd 1.2ghz, radeon ve, ac'97 sound chip, using morgan stream switcher, wmp6.4, 7 (used both), Windows 2000, used the DVD2AVI methode with Virtualdub to encode the Divx, and used bsweet to create the mp3 tracks.
Same pb with celeron 800Mhz, sound blaster live 5.1, geforce3ti200, windows 2000.

there seem to be less problems with dual-audio avi files when you're using Moonlight Odio Dekoda for mp3 decoding. I installed it because of AC3->4-channel decoding, but it also proved to be perfect for mp3 playback.

I found out what the problem came from : access time to cd-rom ! As there is two soundtracks the cd must be accessed a lot more times. When the film is on the hard disk no problem is to be seen. So now I am looking for some way to buffer more data, or to make sure it's no interleaving problem that makes it so access intensive.

I have found a lot of problems with morgan stream switcher, I disabled it and used ZoomPlayer and BSPlayer and dual Audio works perfectly.
When I had morgan stream switcher ZoomPlayer would not work correctly.
Try removing morgan stream switcher
Thanks

Well I tried this option just to make sure it wasn't the problem , and as espected it didn't improve anything. But the BSplayer is still a very good player. Thanks anyway for the tip. I'll try to find another method to read correctly from cdroms !
