HI!
I'm encoding Dracula 2001:scared: and when i look on the back off the dvdcase it says it's a 2:35:1 Anamorphic i checked Amazon.com the same there.DVD2AVI says 16:9 and when i have cropped and resized in GKnot the ratio shows 1.8 and resolution 640*352.I have done a lot of 2:35 movies with 640*272.
So how to do now??which is right??

There are many answers to your question....
1) You proceed but you will have wrong aspect ratio..
2) You disable the ITU-R BT.601 standard from the options.If you didn't got 640 x 272 crop a little more or less to achieve 640 x 272.
3) Edit the avs manually and enter the resolution you want...
Hope the helps..

2.35 and 1.8 is a big difference. it should be clearly visible which of both is correct...

Hi-
Interesting question-can the back of the DVD be wrong (maybe check Amazon.com or IMDB)? I still think I'd take GKnot's choice. Easy way to find out though. As WEF said-there's a big difference between the 2, so scroll through the movie in GKnot, and look for something round (sun-moon-ball). Should be lots of moons in a Dracula movie. If it's round, and not oval, then you know you're OK.
Edit: I just checked both places, and both said 2.35:1. Are you sure you didn't crop into the sides a bit? In any event, GKnot will do it right.

HI!
I did two avs first with GKnots ratio and second with the ratio from the dvdcase. The 2:35 lots of picture will be lost so i think GKnot wins:)
I have problem with the preview in GKnot/mplayer2 it crash and it crash when i try to open the avs with mplayer2 too.

Yes, the backs of DVD cases can be incorrect. Recently, i encoded the 'dual dvd' "Blackout Effect"/"The Devil's Child". The back and inlay showed [ 4:3 ]/[ 1.85:1 ] for both movies. And believe me, not a widescreen movie to be found on either DVD (checked with SmartRipper as well as PowerDVD, there is only _1_ stream).
Then there was the horror movie "House" being distributed freely with a DVD magazine here in the Netherlands. The case said [ 4:3 ] but the movie turned out to be widescreen.
So obviously there are some mistakes made, and my guess is that it happens a lot sooner with 'cheap' movies, where they just create the box/inlay in 15 minutes to get the movie out as quick as possible.

Have just do a movie.
Smartripper (2.4) informs me that it is a 16:9 movie, but when making d2v file it extract at 4:3.
What to put in Gknot??

Smart Ripper is wrong much of the time. DVD2AVI is much more accurate. But as MoonWalker says, follow your eyes.
