Mpeg-4 demultiplexing

Can anyone help how to demultiplex the Mpeg-4 stream in audio and video streams. I want to understand what are these stsz,stsc,stco boxes, how do we use this information to demultiplex the stream. And If anyone can point to reference software it will do good for me. Thank you.
