Advice for people with CCE Freezes

Ive converted a lot of DVD's to SVCD and have only had 2 CCE Freezes

Shrek ( region 4)
Planet of the Apes 2001 (region 4)

I always do 3 or 4 pass VBR for quality and it would freeze between passes ( shrek 33%, 3 pass - POA 49%, 4 pass)

I found that if i cut the credits off, it worked fine

for shrek I used vStrip to cut the credits and then loaded the VOB's into DVD2SVCD, I ripped the credits separately and tryed to convert but they would always freeze at the same spot.

for POA I just moved the last VOB ( it was 300mb, half the credits) and converted it separately.

That is also my findings ;) It seems that CCE doesn't like dark scenes (like credits which are often black and white)

Then again, I converted both of them, also region 4, with no problems...

FYI: to be R4 doesn't mean that both movies are equal. For example:

R4 Australian: most (all?) movies are PAL;
R4 Brasilian: ALL movies are NTSC, despite the PAL-M broadcast.

Both shrek and POA are PAL, australian Region 4

POA was an ex-rental, So it didn't include all the bonus material or Directors commentry (ripoff)

Anyone else notice the worrying trend of companies releasing DVD's with little on them, then releasing a special edition, then releasing a collectors edition, then special release collectors edition... ad nausium.
