Does such tool exist ? I need this so that i can detect if there is any dropped frames between two tv shows i captured (it's anime, one of them is the re-run of the same episode, without any commercials) and where exactly they happened, there is of course a way by manually jumping by keyframes in virtual dub, but as you can imagine this is very tedious and with a text file comparation with the list of all keyframes by numbers, i would find them immediatly. I also noticed that sometimes both captured shows have 1 dropped frame, but at different places. (by the way the encoding is exactly the same when capturing and usually the keyframes are always in the same places, except when there is a dropped frame).

EDIT : Solved! After TONS of searching in google (and a lot of wasted time) i found out that a3r ass helper has this funcion!!

well i hope it's ok to post links here... http://mion.faireal.net/a3r/

After loading the program just load a video in the file menu and then choose video - export keyframe list and choose one of the options. I noticed that using the first one usually the numbers i get are the same as when i jump by keyframes in virtual dub (unless virtual dub complains about the video not having a zero start position of X samples. For example, in a video that vdub gives this error complaining about 2 samples the numbers in the list get two numbers higher.

well after all i found a few new keyframes when comparing the two video files, but still it's easy to notice when there is a 1 frame of diference in a specific place :)
