View Full Version : Can I add multiple m2v's to cells in a single Title?

I'm using DVD-Lab. I have re-encoded my MTS files from my Canon to individual m2v's and ac3's.
The only solution I could think of is to write down the times for all the clips and make a chapter index for DVD-Lab, then re-encode as single streams and then use PGCEdit to remove some of the chapters. Surely there is something a little easier.

If your clips contain a complete story each,
then for every clip you may add a movie object in DLP.
Drag clip there, done.
If clips come from the same source, so share the same properties, only one VTS is needed.
Now I am guessing: If your source .m2ts clips became split
because the camera was started/stopped and so had to split the story into takes
or dropouts forced the generation of a new TC border,
I would of course edit these clips together using Edius or Vegas before encoding as one single stream.
Now you can place chapters across the single movie.
This is what I would suggest anyway.

the videos are split because of the camcorder being stopped and restarted, I have no problem encoding all of them as a single stream or simply concatenating them
what I want is some way to automatically make a chapter point at the beginning of each clip
can someone recommend a command-line app that prints information about a m2v (including length of course)?
with this, I could make a chapter list and import them onto the single clip

While you concatenate these clips into one in your NLE you may easily skip from border to border and set your chapter marks.
You may export these for authoring as well, depending on the NLE.
DVDlabPro will happily accept these in .txt or .eds_chpt format.
EditStudio 5 and 6 allow this directly and for Edius 4 and 5 there is a free marker exporter downloadable somewhere.
Faster than extracting each clip's duration, then adding them up to get total time reference.

thanx much for the help
I found mpgtx which can give me the length of each clip
with this I can write a script to make the chapters.txt for DLP
