I'm trying to combine a few vobs into a single file. I tried to do this with vobedit but it splits the result into 1gb chunks.

Before I go any further let me explain why I want this: I have a copy of star trek voyager ntsc dvd copied to hard drive with dvdshink (without recoding). I'm trying to join the double episodes into single seamless episodes. I cut out the end credits from one episode and the recap from the next with dvdshink. The result is a relatively seamless episode without recoding. Dvdshrink can also produce vobs beyond 1gb but it doen't allow joining titles. I want a single file because I plan not to keep the DVD structure, I just want a single top quality video file to execute from HDD so I can use it in playlists.

I also tried vobmerge but after the joining point the audio goes out of sync.

I realized that vobedit + ifoedit + dvdshrink could give me a single vob but after vobedit/ifoedit it won't open in dvdshink anymore. Also the vobedit joined result was out of sync after the joining point but interestingly not anymore in the next 1gb chunk.

Someone recommended vobblanker for this but that program was way beyond my understanding.

Getting frustrated here. Please help.

Try Avidemux. Not usually what I'd recommend for something like this, but it has a GUI with preview for cutting/joining segments and gets the audio delay right most of the time.

I realized that vobedit + ifoedit + dvdshrink could give me a single vob but after vobedit/ifoedit it won't open in dvdshink anymore.Process those files with FixVTS and then try DVD Shrink. Change the settings in Shrink and you will have 1 VOB.

DVD2One can join titles. Files should be no more than 1Gb to preserve backwards compatibility. The size of the file has no bearing at all on seamless playback. Get a proper DVD structure and just double click the IFO in your software player.

I would author both clips into DVDShrink 3.2 without any menu.
Save the compilation in folder say 1.
Repeat the same but only with the first clip.
Compile it in folder 2.
Copy the second clip files (VTS_02..) from folder 1 into folder 2.
Rename the new files in ascending order in such a way that they would continue the numbering of the old ones.
Fire IfoEdit and do a get vts sectors.
close it and fire it again
select vob extras and take what default there
select a new destination then go
close ifoedit and fire it again
do again a get TVS sectors
finish - you'll lose the chapters

I assume both clips have exactly the same audio/subtitle tracks and in the same positions/indexes. The DVD specifications do not require 1GB files but each file to be less than 1GB so they can actually have any size. When you do Vob extra IfoEdit would reassemble the files and cut them again to 1GB border.
