Trim/cut while capturing

Anyone know any software/hardware solution that would allow me to capture/record an event from tv then for example be able to open the file and cut a minute from it without stopping the capture?

I don't believe it's possible to edit a file WHILE capturing it. Anything wrong with doing so after capture?

I'm almost sure it's possible
And the thing is that i need that minute fast and can't wait for the event to finish.. else i wouldn't ask :)
For example, i want to capture a sporting event which lasts an hour but when something interesting happens i want to be able to cut a minute and start encoding it while in the same time keeping the whole capture intact and without waiting an hour for the event to finish :|

virtualdub allows multi-segment capture- which will meet your need
if you set segment size say to 2 minutes, it will create individual avis for every two minutes-the capture will go on, but each of the earlier completed avis will be available for editing/encoding
