Will the apps work reliably in Windows 7 while NOT using the Windows XP mode that comes in Windows 7.

Apps like DVD Rebuilder, DGIndex, VObBlanker, and ImgBurn?

(All thoughts, criticisms and comments are welcome.)

I've tested MeGUI and DGIndex on windows 7 (non-XP compatible mode) and it appears to not have any issues. As for the others I don't have them so not sure.

Everything will work directly as long as it doesn't install any drivers.

If windows 7 does some how fail to run the application you can use the virtual xp mode

How about Avisynth?

by the way, virtual xp mode works with any CPU?

AVISynth works without any problems! Windows 7 is nothing but Vista on diet. NT 6.1 vs NT 6.0 (xp = 5.1, 2000 = 5.0)

Why don't you install and try it like I did? The only program I have found so far that won't work is Wavelab - not even in XP mode but they are bringing out an updated version anyway. My software is mostly music composition, editing, video and audio and everything works faster and smoother than XP Pro SP3. I will never go back to XP. ImgBurn works, no need for Nero, AutoGK works and is much faster as does VSO ConvertXtoDVD that really flies. 23 minutes for a full length movie that used to take a bit over an hour. Even Cakewalk 9.3 that is not supposed to work properly on XP according to Cakewalk, works without a wimper. As they say in the classics it's the best thing since sliced bread as far as Micro$oft is concerned...:D

ript4me and avidemux work fine
the only problems I've seen is processes hang for a second on I/O OPs, but I lived with worse in XP

AviSynth - works
Virtualdub - works
mkvtoolnix - works
DGIndex - works
ImgBurn - works

There's only a very few programs that haven't worked in Win7 so far, like Daemon Tools. Other than that, it's basically as compatible with everything as Vista is.

DirectShowSource ?

I have used it numerous times with the RC and it works fine. I have only loaded a .grf with it though.

DirectShowSource ?

It works, but you must open .grf files with it (but not actual media files) to specify needed decoders instead of Microsoft ones. Anyway this is only way I know. It seems this tool (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146910) not works for me.

Edit: Oops, I'm late.

Virtual XP is more like the last resort you should try. The basic rule of thumb is that if it worked in Vista, which everything listed basically has then it will work in 7. If Virtual XP was required to keep compatibility high then they would have included it with all versions of 7, not just professional and ultimate.

6 works for me. Try setting the Compatibility Mode to Vista.

I tried every compatibility mode. :(

You are using Power Cinema 6 in conjunction with a tv card ?
I'm using the Club zap tv 2202 with the Philips SAA7131 chip.
When I click on the tv section of PC6 it just crashes.

Update.

The payware version of Cyberlink Powercinema 6, does work with Win7.
I just tried it using vista compatibility mode settings as suggested by Dark Eiri.

The free version of Powercinema 6 that comes bundled with TV tuner cards does not work with Win 7.
