I've been making DVD for home video in the past years and I kept on using the same routine every time. Because of other matter, I stopped for a few months. But recently when I resume making my next DVD, it refused to work. My set up is like this: win xp, DVRaptor to capture from mini DV cam into avi (DVRaptor codec), Premiere 6 to edit, export movie via Avisynth-Premiere plugin v0.25 to Avisynth v0.3 then to Cinema Craft Encoder SP 2.5 for encoding to mpv. My Avisynth is very simple, only has one line IPCVideo("my.avi") stored in a file my.avs since I only use it for frame serving to save disk space. From these software version, you'll know how long I've been using this method, and it serves me well for many years.
My problem now is when I add the my.avs into CCESP, it aborts with the MS send bug info msg. I've checked every line of the Avisynth register is there. I've tried to re-install all the above software but still hit this problem. Since my last successful DVD making, I didn't install any major software, except that I upgrade from xp sp2 to sp3. Don't know if this is related to the problem. Does any of you using these software has similar problem after upgrade to sp3? If any of you can think of any reason why it stops working, please give me a hint.

Fix your thread title ASAP to avoid a rule 9 strike.

Read Rule 9 but still don't know what's wrong with my title "usual routine stops working" Please advise? I am willing to correct it, just don't know how. Or do you mean this title shouldn't be posted in this forum? But it's General Discussion. Where should I post then?

It was not sufficiently descriptive of the content of your post. I have fixed it for you.
CCE crashes can be down to a number of things. Unfortunately (and this is especially true of v2.5) it isn't forthcoming with what's gone wrong.
Most commonly it is a software issue. A good start is to check your avisynth script plays in Media Player. Open Media Player and select Open from the File menu (press alt to access menus if necessary). Change the file type in the dialogue box to "All Files" and browse for your script's .avs file. If your movie footage plays back (slowly, jerkily, whatever as long as it plays) then your script is most likely correct. If you see a red error message on a black background then have a look at the line it directs you to in the script. If you can't see a problem still, post your script and the error message here.
Other than that it may be a codec issue. I have had xvid video where the script played fine but CCE still choked and eventually solved it by downgrading to an older version of the codec. You said you haven't installed any "major" software. Have you installed any codec packs or any video-related software at all, which may have tampered with your codecs?
Otherwise, hardware could be a fault. Because this program uses a lot of resources, a system that under normal load appears perfectly stable can start playing you up. Use a search engine to find a Memtest86+ iso, burn it to a CDR and boot from it. It will run hours of memory tests. If you get errors running this, replace your RAM.
If none of the above helps then try HC. It's not as fast as CCE but it takes avisynth files for input, the output quality is comparable to CCE and it's free. It also gives out proper usable error messages when things go wrong :D
Incidentally I do not run XP so SP3 could be to blame, I don't know. CCE 2.5 is a very old version so a compatibility issue is certainly feasible.
