View Full Version : Weird Speed Differences

I notice a huge difference in speed in CCE and the total time it takes to do a rip between 4 very similiar machines. All machines are PIII 866 MHz except one, which is actually a Celeron 900 MHz.

I can get about 0.5 CCE speed and about 17 hours total time on my PIII 866MHz 512 RAM WinXP Pro custom built desktop PC and on a PIII 866 MHz 192 RAM WinXP Home Dell laptop.

Weirdly I can only get as high as 0.08 CCE speed and unknown total time on a PIII 866MHz 128 RAM WinXP Pro Sony Vaio desktop and on a Celeron 900 MHz 128 RAM WinXP Home Sony Vaio laptop. Both are low end Sony models.

What gives??? Why does the speed dip so dramatically between these two groups of machines? They all virtually have the same processing power. Is it because they're Sony machines? Or is it actually the RAM that makes a difference?

I read Q4 in FAQ, but they don't say anything about RAM.

Either way, how I can I increase CCE speed and total time on at least the Sony Vaio desktop??? Or how can I increase everything with all machines???

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx in advance

For better results RAM should at least be 256

@ digity

this is also in Q&A:

Minimum System Requirements - PIII or Athlon. 128 ram barely functions. 256 ram is enough. 384 is better if you want to use your computer while DVD2SVCD work.
