View Full Version : VBR MP3 Multiplexing

OK I used xmpeg to get the video and chose direct stream to get the AC3 audio file. I then used BeSweet to convert the AC3 audio file to a VBR MP3 using a range of 64 to 256 kbps with high quality settings. File works fine but Nandub doesn't seem to like it. In Nandub I load up the video and select direct stream and then choose (VBR) MP3 along with direct stream with that as well. After saving, the output is the same size as the original video and there is no sound, duh :) In the doom9 guide it said that if you use VBR you need to use Nandub to multiplex the audio and I'm wondering if I have to do anything beyond what I have already done?

Update: A CBR works fine though

Thanks for any help

I've never ever encountered this before but I am noticing it now, and I've been using VBR mp3s since I started. I wonder if it's a BeSweet problem. I noticed also you don't have to do the actual mux to test whether it's going to work - once you choose the file, go back to the audio menu and it'll still be stuck on "no audio" or "avi audio" rather than vbr mp3 as it should be. I'm trying manual azid -> lame to see if that'll work as it used to, if so I guess it's just a beSweet issue. The only other guess I have is that it's just the recent versions of nandub that stuck in the option of dual audio files.

yeah it's a beSweet problem or else maybe a lame_enc.dll problem, I'm going to update besweet 1.0->1.1b2 and the lame_enc.dll to the one that comes with it, and see if that'll work. Anyway, using straight azid and lame makes a file nandub can handle; I think it's a problem with the mp3 headers.

Right, beSweet 1.1b2 with its up-to-date lame_enc works fine.

hi,

this thread is quite old now but i don't want to start another one on the same topic

since nandub isn't maintained (as far as i know), i wonder if there is another prog to multiplex a vbr mp3 file ?
for sure nandub works great for this task, i'm just curious :)

thanks

I also search such a soft but I didn't find too.
I use Nandub when encoding with VBR and Avimux with CBR.

But I can't mux three streams in Nandub and that suck's.
