Some software has options for the interface they use to talk to the drive, e.g. NT native API or ASPI. Check to see if changing such options helps. See if you have any burner SDKs installed that might be causing problems, similarly with any driver software that might affect access to the drive, e.g. AnyDVD or the like. Finally, check to see if there is a firmware update available for your drive. You must know the exact model number, often you can see it during bootup or in the device manager. New firmware can improve compatibility with various disk types. Never try to install a firmware that doesn't match the model number exactly, you can brick your drive.

What does it actually say in ImgBurn's log window?

It'll give us a clue as to why the drives cannot be accessed.

@philco:
ImgBurn supports various I/O interfaces (SPTI, ASPI, Patin-Couffin, ElbyCDIO). Did you try Switching the I/O interface yet?

You've got a virus.

http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=10038

Basically, download DrWeb CureIt! from http://www.freedrweb.com/ and that'll get rid of it. Then run your usual anti malware type apps like 'Spybot search and destroy' or 'Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware' to clear up what's left.

When you've done all that your programs will work again.
