I've ripped Sopranos Season 1 Disc 1 using SmartRipper. That seems to have worked fine. However, I'm having trouble with playback. Zoom Player will play individual VOB files but shows the image in a separate "Active Movie Window" which I can't get to Full Screen. The Zoom Player itself only displays a pink screen and the English subtitles. Also, Zoom Player only plays one VOB file at a time, it will not play multiple files sequentially even when they're in a play list and "Play All" is selected. The Windows 98 DVD player worked beautifully but only for the first episode. I have limited HD space (6G total) and have to delete VOB files as they're used. Can any player read DVD files out of sequence? Can I save the ifo files and delete VOB files of episodes I don't want to view and still play subsequent episodes?
Also, would PowerDVD solve all these issues? I tried the demo and it seemed fine but got no audio whatsoever. If the DVD has Dolby Digital Surround does that mean there's no MP2 audio for the demo to playback?
