Hi, dear all.

I just have bought an original XXX-DVD movie from Germany.

But, I'm having problems with it: It can't be played by my DVD Writers on my PC. Both of them are LG and never give me problems before.

I just have tested it in 3 different ones and none of them could be read.

In my portable dvd reader, plays nice on my TV.

I have tested many other dvd's that I have and all play fine.

PS: the problematic dvd has NO scratches or nothing like that.

Are there any way to play these dvd? It is some kind of "protection" preventing some dvd's to be played in PC devices?

Thank you.

I could find a solution to my case.

Windows Explorer doesn't "find" or "read" the dvd disc. But, I try not to open any disc dvd directly , using some player, like PowerDVD or any other. I just put the disc and wait a moment.

It seems that nothing happend. But, when I try to open DVDdecrypter, it could read it without problem.

I could rip the disc content to my HD. And use Ifoedit to correct the ifo files ( problematic ones) and generating new ones.

After that, I could generate one valid dvd structure to be burned.

Finally, I could see the problem it was some "strange" dvd structure that prevent to be opened "directly", even using anydvd, dvd shrink or similar ones.

It works in my case!!!

Best regards.

Strange that it was a protection that DVD Decrypter could crack, judging how it is (now) a very old program.

I guess it was not exactly a "protection", but a trick that difficult a copy. DVDdecrypter could read the disc despite windows explorer and other players doesn't execute it, crashing before open the content.

After I rip the disc, I need to work ifo and bup file too, using ifoedit. Probably PGCedit could do it too.

Thanks.

best regards.

Hi!

Sounds like the disc contained an "Autorun" file...

Hello.

I dont know, because in my portable dvd player it works normally.

But when I inserted in my dvd drive from PC, it crashes all players which try to read it. And even Windows explorer can't recognize the disc on the drive.

But if I insert the disc, close all plyers and wait a moment, dvddecrypter could read the content. And even rip to my hd.

But even in my hd, the content can't be played without I had to edit the ifo and bub files before. Strange, right? LOL.

But, I could rip to my hd and edited all of them using ifoedit and everything could runs nice after that.

Probably the "problem" ou trick or protection were in ifo files, maybe. :P

thanks.

To see if there is an "Autorun" file on the original disc, hold the "Shift" key down (and keep holdiing it down) while loading the disc. If the disc eventually becomes "visible" in Explorer, select open and see if there are any files in the ROOT DIRECTORY of the disc, especially any with the word "Autorun" as part of the name...
