I can't figure this out, I'm trying to D/L a video file from YouTube using a new ver. of UltraGet and it won't D/L. Just about every other video D/L's fine but not this one.

Yes, I'm logged into YouTube while I'm trying to do the D/L.

Could subject matter and/or content be the problem?

I also tried another software Moyea flv downloader that didn't work either.

I'm copying the URL of the video and then pasting it into these programs with no luck.

What do you think is wrong and how can I get around this problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Only if you have permission to download the video (i.e. the source is legal) we can help you with this ...

(i.e. the source is legal) ?? I assumed that if it's allowed to be viewed on YouTube it is legal.

I don't understand.

No, at most it is legal to view it on YouTube (provided they paid royalties for it). Downloading is a separate story, and in that case we can't help you. Of course there is also a lot of stuff without copyright on it on YouTube, hence my question.

How would I know the legality and/or copyright of that video, is there a way of looking somewhere and finding that out, to see exactly why I can't D/L it?

The copyright issue isn't why you can or cannot physically download it - it's why you can't discuss it here. Read the forum rules.

Mind you - there's so much copyright violation on YouTube that even discussing watching some of it might be against the rules here - Doom9 actually takes a stronger line on enforcing some aspects of copyright than YouTube does itself.

(Observation, not criticism).

Cheers,
David.

I had absolutely no idea this would be such an issue.

I had absolutely no idea this would be such an issue. That must be because you never read the stickie in the Newbies forum about downloaded files.

Neuron2, is it safe to talk about your cat?

p.s. I am not a cop or the Anti-Christ. The YouTube D/L file was of Mother Teresa caring for a beggar.

That would be OT in the public forum but there is always PM.

We think it's against our rules to discuss downloading videos! Take it somewhere else, we're not interested.

I'm a nice person, really. My mistake was I got confused and posted on the wrong website.

I hope I'm not persona non grata.

Even without the cat picture, I knew you are a cat person. Some things you just can't hide.
