Editing Divx to WMV output

I'm currently using Adobe premiere pro to edit videos but just want to get an idea of "what else is out there..."

Has anybody used Avid Media Composer? I know I mentioned AVS in my previous thread and someone said to stay away from it - and I noticed it renders like shit anyways..

I'm just looking for some good programs to test out editing a DIVX file into a WMV movie and maybe steer away from Adobe.. Who knows?? Maybe a little time apart will bring us back together-

I have always been a fan of Sony Vegas. It's got a pretty clean interface, decent encoding + effects support, and a strong user base.
