View Full Version : inserting subtitles from original dvd to backed up DVD

I have a DVD9 which I backed up to DVD5.

I mistakenly removed one of the subtitles (and it's the one that I need).

How do I extract (what tool) the subtitle from the original DVD and copy it to the backup?

I know I can easily reencode the dVD but due to the avs scripts that I use, it can take more than a day to complete.

Inserting the missing subtitle should take around an hour probably less?

thanks for the reply :)

- demux the subs with pgcdemux from original dvd
- demux audio/video/chapters with pgcdemux from encoded dvd
- mux audio/video/subs with muxman or ifoedit's author dvd function
- replace the pgc with vobblanker output new dvd
- open the new dvd in pgcedit double click the movie pgc and set the enable the sub stream.

I don't think you will need these two steps. Because you are authoring fresh new DVD.

Don't forget to apply sub colours using Ifoedit or your subs will be in bizarre colours. Check IfoEdit authoring guide on Doom9 (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/ifoedit-dvdauthor.htm).

All depends on if it's the only pgc on the DVD or not.
