I make movie only backups using megui. I only use 1 audio track + video. When reaching DVD5 size I would usually set it to 4200mb so leaving 250megs roughly. I never oversized once. When reaching dvd9 size how much overhead room should I leave? Or is there a method for calculating overhead?

You can use The Bitrate Calculator from Ripbot.

Just load your AVS into Ripbot, select your Audio and 2pass VBR Bitrate. Then select BluRay Output instead of MKV
This will calculate Filesize for M2TS

Thanks. Isn't there anyway to calculate it precisely, without using ripbot. I think I remember seeing some math somewhere...but I couldn't find it.
