Wanting to convert HDTV I've recorded from tv in Mpeg TS format to x264 using the mkv container. I'm looking for something with similar capabilities and interface to Handbrake or Mediacoder, however if possible something a little more robust when working with very large files (16GB). I find that MediaCoder crashes when trying to load the cropper, and Handbrake crashes during the encode as apparently it has issues with producing mkv files larger than 4GB.

Anyway, just wondering what other options are out there? I'd prefer to stay with open source, however if there is a decent commercial offering I'd be interested in that too.

First of all You need to check if your TS file is free of errors. You can use TSPE (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143249) . Also make sure that you removed all commercials. (Audio must have the same amount of channels) Then try to import your file in ripbot264
