Has anyone managed to get this movie to work? It keeps failing for me with an error regarding not being able to find the audio tracks. It does full disc, but then the player I want to use only supports movie only, grrrrr :(

DVD Rebuilder or BD Rebuilder? I've done movie-only with BD Rebuilder. In fact it is one of the test discs I keep on my hard drive.

long shot, but have you tried selecting the "alternate playlist" from the mode menu in BDRB?

You might want to try an out of the ordinary experiment that involves other-than-the standard (NOT using AnyDVDHD) ripping, as follows:

1) Use "MakeMKV" to rip the "WALL-E" BluRay disc. When the initial analysis has been completed, you'll be able to readily identify the main movie. UNcheck ALL titles other than the main movie title - And then click on the "+" to the left of the movie-only title to see all of the title's video, audio, and subtitles streams - and UNcheck those that you don't wish to keep). Then press "Start" and "MakeMKV" will rip your movie-only title.

2) Load the MKV file into "tsMuxeR" and select "BluRay". Click on start.

You should (as I did) now have a BluRay "movie-only" package that is perfectly acceptable to "BD-RB" - and will be properly processed.

I just wanted to do a backup of the European BD of this movie (English, German, Italian) and I'm running into the problem, too.

When trying the BD with AnyDVD as source and use the movie only option, BD Rebuilder throws an error:

Phew, I hope this isn't indicative of future issues. Heading in this direction is the opposite of 1-Click.

But thx for the info I'll give it a try. I hope BDR add's intelligence to get around those BD movies that are all spilt up.

This type of error is usually a set up problem on your end. You need to make sure matroska, WMP11, ffdshow and the proper settings within ffdshow and avisynth are properly installed. If you can't open and play the .m2ts file directly with MPC, this will confirm an improper setup.

Usually "Failed to retrieve audio" (especially when it happens instantly --as in your case) means you haven't recreated the directory structure as it is represented in the ZIP file -- and BD-RB can't find TSMUXER. Alternatively it may be possible that the version of TSMUXER included in the last version has some new bugs.

I'm adding some new code in the next version to tell you upfront when required files are missing.

The same error as with 05 and 07, and I made some backups with 07 and they worked fine, only Wall-E ist problematic. And I can play the m2ts files without a problem in Windows Media Player.

Is there anything I can provide to help fix it? The extracting works fine if I do a full backup.

the largest m2ts file in my case is 6.1gb - the entire movie is split into over 100 hundred seperate small parts.

using tsmuxer on the largest file and demuxing it actually works

Rumbah
6th May 2009, 02:42
Is the demuxing process in full mode different from the movie only one? Because it works in full backup mode, so it extracts the audio of all the mts files, the error occurs only in movie only mode.

jdobbs
6th May 2009, 04:06
It is different, because there may be multiple parts that have to be joined for Movie-Only. If multiple parts exist they are each encoded separately for a full backup.

@yonexsp

Did you ever get around to trying the simple, all-freeware workaround I suggested to you in my initial post to this thread?

No, I don't really have the time. Also, I'd like to just use BDR and not go back to the way things were in my youth, with codec packs, and multiple software.

1-Click is what I want. It either works or not. As others pointed out, Full-Disc works, but not movie only. So, maybe when I get some time, but really I love the simplicity of BDR to back-up my BDR onto my HD.

setarip_old
28th May 2009, 02:43
Certainly it's your prerogative, although your logic is flawed (there are no additional codecs involved) and you exaggerate the "extra effort" required.

What I proposed you try:

1) Will take but two additional "single clicks" and approximately an additional 1/2 hour

2) Will allow you to determine with certainty whether your problem is with BD-RB or, perhaps, with your original BluRay disc

3) May allow you to successfully (as I did, using this method) make a "movie-only" copy of your BluRay "WALL-E"

BTW - As an alternative, that involves but "one click", for "movie -only", you might want to try the recently arrive "AVCHDCoder"...

Hi!

If the German BluRay version of "WALL-E" is similar to the multiple Europen DVD versions of that title, it likely contains a multi-angle at the point when the captain opens a book (At 1 hour 12 to 1 hour 18 minutes, if I remember correctly), whereas the R1 version had no such multi-angle.

If this is the case, would this cause a problem for BD-RB?

And yes, there are some parts of the movie in English, German and Italian but I don't know if it's really multiangle as I think it uses different playlists for the different versions. So all the parts in different languages are in different m2ts files.

Well, the subtitles are for:
English
English for the hearing impaired
Italian
German
Director's comment Italian
Director's comment German
Director's comment English

It's quite normal for European discs as there is often only one disc for eastern Europe with all the different languages and subtitles on it (I even saw DVDs with subtitles in 12 different languages).

@yonexsp

This actually seems to help.

Numerous versions of BD-RB all failed with the aforementioned error message concerning the audio extraction.

I have now used MakeMKV and was amazed by the output size.

Input ~40GB
Output to MKV files: ~57GB

MKV files were created; 3 of them contain the three main language-versions: English, Italian, German

These main mkv files are all 18.5x gb in size.

In certain scenes there must be "translated" content in either ENG, ITA or GER which show "dubbed" signs or the like so it may be a matter of multiangle with Wall-E.

Right this minute BD-RB 22.02 runs fine with ONE of the mkv turned into BD via tsmuxer again.

Will let you know about the result.

Could it possibly be the Director's Comments track? I do remember having some problems with that when I was making a copy of WALL-E with other tools, before BD-Rebuilder came onto the scene. Apparently the Director's Comments was the first audio track, and the normal audio track was the second.

My Wall-E had en PiP with director's comment. Might be that those audio-streams (secondary audio-streams) cause the problem.

But as seen from Rumba's first picture, he hasn't chosen one of the secondary audio streams. But it's the only thing i can think of that might cause a problem.

I used this method too but unsure which of the three resulting movies to use!? They all look ok but can I be sure which one without watching them?

My disc label is QUACKD1_GBR and I now have title01, title02 and title05 all the same length and size. Anyone know which I should go for?

the three version will most likely contain three languages in a similar order as the audio streams are present.

since you can play these mkv files start one after the other and look for scenes where you will find signs on buildings etc which wall-e passes by and see which language they are in.

@jdobbs you mention you did, any specific s/w on your system that migth explain the variance of experience?

Hi! Awesome!! also thx for putting the HD DVD piece in recently. I can't wait to see my copy of Wall-E playing on the HD DVD playersYou do realize, don't you, that using the BD-RB "hidden setting" for HD-DVD compliance doesn't generate an HD-DVD "package"?

It generates a BluRay "package" that "MultiAVCHD" will convert to an HD-DVD "package" in a matter of 10 to 20 minutes...

? It not the HD DVD's that is the issue.

It is the fact that some discs like Wall-E are problematic to encode as movie only.

@yonesxp

This thread has shifted course in mid-stream (By you, in post #41), so that it appeared that your current interest was in converting to HD-DVDs.

Be that as it may, and now that a couple of months have passed since you originally sought a resolution to your inability to successfully create a "movie-only" BluRay version of "WALL_E", I would once again suggest you use the proven, quick, slightly out of the ordinary method that I detailed for you in my Post #5 in this thread back in April:@yonexsp

As I then told you in my Post #22 to this thread (And subsequently confirmed successful by others): Certainly it's your prerogative, although your logic is flawed (there are no additional codecs involved) and you exaggerate the "extra effort" required.

I tried it once again and I think the new log points to an error:
- [14:34:05] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00000]
- Error in attempt to extract audio/subs.
- Can't create output file Y:\TEMP\WORKFILES\00000+00024+00001+00025+00002+00026+00003+00027+00004+00028+00005+00029+00006+00030+00007+00031+00008+00032+00009+00033+00010+00034+00011+00035+00012+00036+00013+00037+00014+00038+00015+00039+00016+00040+00017+00041+00018+00042+00019+00043+00020+00044+00021+00045+50202+00023.track_4352.dts
So BD-RB tries to create a file with a file name bigger than 255 characters which is not allowed for NTFS.

Capsbackup
28th November 2009, 16:51
For a movie only backup, an option that has worked for me is to use Clown_BD/eac3to on the original Blu-Ray to create a new BluRay, less any audio and subtitle tracks you want, which will have only one .m2ts file. You can now run this new BluRay thru BD-RB to select the BD5/9 or BD25 file size of your choice.
However, since this is preprocessing, do not report any problems or failures in the BD-RB bug reports thread!

Because manual extraction with a gui and a shorter file name works fine.

Because manual extraction with a gui and a shorter file name works fine.If you know a way to do it differently please explain... You are saying manual extraction with the gui works fine. If that is true, please explain how. I can find no way that you can combine all the parts of the MPLS (as is absolutely necessary to avoid audio sync issues) and output it to a different filename. TSMUXER selects the output filename (which is too large) when it is demuxing.

You're right, for manual extraction I just tried a single m2ts file as it was before you got the detailed error message. If I try to demux from the playlist I get the file creation error.

So I guess we have to wait till the TSMuxer guys fix it.

It's a pain, takes more time, and uses more space, but at least it won't fail -- and it will only happen when this error forces it.

Has anyone managed to get this movie to work? It keeps failing for me with an error regarding not being able to find the audio tracks. It does full disc, but then the player I want to use only supports movie only, grrrrr :(

I used clownbd (using the correct mpls file for your language) and made 1 m2ts + 1 mpls file. This disc Movie only will fit on a BD-R ok, but of course you can then us BD Rebuilder to compress to DVD.

clownbd also joins the seperate m2ts file without any audio sync issues that you can get in tsmuxer.

By the way I cant remember which mpls is the english option but I know its not the first one shown in bdinfo. Its certain parts like newspaper headlines etc that change language in the film.
