Hi,

I came to find out that DVD Shrink does not properly adjust subtitle timings as soon as you adjust the main movie using the frame start/frame stop settings, to cut away from the beginning or the end of the movie.

If I play the resulting DVD image DVD Shrink created in MPC, the subtitles appear correctly, however when you use a subtitle extracter like SubRip, it will "see" the wrong timings for the subs.

For example, using the Set Start Frame in Shrink, If you remove the first 30 seconds of a movie, Subrip will misread the subs by those 30 seconds. In other words, It "sees" the original times from before Shrink cut away the first 30 secs.

Is that a known problem please, or did I do something incorrectly ?

It's a known bug though I'm not sure what's causing it. Cause if you watch the extracted scenes with PowerDVD the subtitles start at the beginning. Only if you use AutoGK or VSrip the subs start at the time into the movie when the original scene began.

Using the start/stop frame adjuster, like pretty much all other programs, DVD Shrink does not alter the PTS. Subrip just sees the PTS as it is 30 seconds in, not understanding that the movie actiually begins this way. If you play the resultant DVD in a standalone (or a decent software) player, it should be OK.

However, the best thing to do is to demux and remux after you have "re-authored".

Would that have been difficult to code? I'm just wondering why standalones read it properly but AutoGK doesn't.

I'm curious about this too, as I faced the same problem when trying to run DVD Shrink reauthored clips thru AutoGK.

I dunno how difficult it would be to code, but pretty much all transocders works this way.

Just demux with PGCDemux and remux with muxman and I reckon you'll have no issues with AGK.
