I am ripping a DVD Video (Alien Resurrection) which has two main movies 1.Special Edition 2.Theatrical Edition.

It seems that the DVD has 2 PGCs for each editions and its using angles in vobs for playing the edition of your choice, without the need to 2 full separate movies encoded in vobs[just replaces the edited scenes using angles].

I am able to create mkv of any one edition and then I insert the chapers of the other editon as angles but unable to have the 2 editions in one mkv without the use of full movies as angles.

Is there any thing I can do to retain the 2 editions in 1 mkv file just like the original DVD video without such a waste of space.

Hi!

If you do a search here for "mkv" and "angle" (enter as one line, including quotes), I believe you'll find that no one's come up with a way to accomplish that without doubling the size...

I still think it can be accomplished by using Ordered Chapters and Segment Linking feature in mkv http://www.mod16.org/hurfdurf/?p=8

You seem to be answering your own question (Have you tried it?)

No I haven't tried it, Its too complicated. Found it via Google search.

Will post if I get success.

I got success but each time the video reaches the joints(to next file specified in ordered chap), a noticeable audio pause/shift is observed. Also when I gave up the idea of ordered chaps and decided to rip the special edition, I got audio sync problem and its not constant.
