View Full Version : DV file conversion not converting Audio

I have searched for this issue in other posts and have not seen it...
I have updated to the latest build of DVD2SVCD (great program!) and decided to try out the AVI2SVCD feature. I installed the codecs that were recommended and converted the DV video to the reference AVI. This all worked as planned.
I then start the conversion process and it appears to be extracting the Audio to a wav file. Then the program appears to be processing it to .mp2 but it never creates the .mp2 file.
It appears that the extracted .wav file is not a valid wave file. I have tried to play it and get errors.
I have manually extracted the audio out of the AVI (with another APP) and manually made the "encoded_audio_1.mp2" and then reran AVI2SVCD and the process works normally.
It appears there is some bug in besweet causing this.
I have seen some references to other bugs in Besweet but none of them seem similar to my problem.
Thanks,
Russell

Same thing happened to me.
DV avi in but it creates no
mp2 file and the wav file that is created won't play in any player. Hmm.

Which DV codec are you using and which OS?
I'm using the Microsoft DV codec (version included in the latest ActiveX) and running on W2K. After 9 minutes the audio of the encoded MPEG2 file is lost. This might be a filesize problem because a DV-file longer than 9 minutes is greater then 2 gigabytes.
Does anybody else have the same problem?

what inputting audio are you using? BeSweet does NOT support DV audio. So when you export a dv file use pcm or mp3 instead. Can someone please send DspGuru some DV audio samples. I've been busy goofing off.

I may not have been clear in my initial post.
I converted the DV AVI file to a reference AVI file with the file converter DVD2SVCD references on it's tips tab. This converts the DV to a reference AVI that can be used by programs that accept standard AVI files.
Thanks,
Russell

if you have capture ieee1394 type 1 and convert it to type 2 it won't work. Because the audio is DV audio. I use Video Studio and then Export the movie and in the options choose DV video and either PCM or mp3 as the audio and it will work. DspGuru needs DV audio samples before he can provide support for this feature.

hmmm, I loading a dv type 2 avi and it worked well on the first build that supported avi2svcd. I did notice a "constant clicking sound" in the audio but assumed this was something that would be dealt with later.
@DSPGURU, contact me privately and I can arrange an ftp of some DVCam stuff for you to test with if you need it.

I believe you will find this fixed in the next pre-release.

Hi,
Just my 2 cents here, I have the same problem with analog source (no DV involved here at all). AVI file captured from satellite receiver (composite video and analog audio output) just behaves the same. No sound in the end, Wav file is invalid for every sound processing software I tried, and mp2 file, although it's 35 MB long, seems to be empty when opened in editing software...
Very strange...See my post in the capturing video forum about this for more details.
