No audio in preview mode

Excuse me if this has been covered before - I searched but found no pointers.

I get no audio in preview mode on one machine. On the other I do. It's probably something simple, but it escapes me atm. Ideas?

No ffdshow. I have Lame installed. It's a new install. My other system doesn't have ffdshow installed either. I will intall it, if the problem persists then I'll post more details.
