BD-Rebuilder encodes while keeping menus and extras on DVD5/9 but it only works on a few players (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=144674) currently
RipBot264 or sx264 encodes a movie only BD/AVCHD on DVD5/9
HDBDSplit for untouched movie only split to many DVD5/9

If you are planning on encoding to a DVD that plays on DVD players the only way is movie only with a program like ConvertXtoDVD -OR- DIY by demuxing, write avisynth script, encoding and authoring.

What do you mean by DVD5/9?

You mean regular DVDs, that with VIDEO_TS, or DVDs with BD content (BDMV)?

For BD5/9 (DVD with BD content) there are the alternatives listed above. For DVDs you need reencoding to MPEG2.

Hi!For DVDs you need reencoding to MPEG2.That's precisely what the earlier mentioned ConvertXtoDVD does (as well as the referenced Avisynth scripting)...

ConvertXtoDVD is by far the fastest and does an exceptional job... my choice for almost all of my Bluray to DVD5 (DVD format) convertions.... however, for movies that are longer, I've found AVStoDVD to be incredibly best in temrs of PQ. It does take 4 hours compared to 1 hour that ConvertX takes, but for these much longer movies, AVStoDVD is superiro than ConvertX to retain more of the PQ.

So I'd suggest ConvertX for most of the Bluray to DVDs, and use AVStoDVD for the longer titles.
If free is more you're preference, then AVStoDVD is your ticket...:)
