Hi. Firstly when I refer to encoding the .mkv file I mean encoding the file to a PS3 compatible video file.

I use mkv2vob and occasionally TsmuxeR to encode .mkv videos to a video compatible for the ps3. At first I encoded the following video using mkv2vob:

[Resolution ].....[ 720*352 (Anamorph)
[Frame Rate ].....[ 23.976 fps
[Aspect Ratio ]...[ 2.47:1
[Video C/B ]......[ x264 ~1656 kbps
[Audio C/B ]......[ ND HE-AAC 6ch ~189 kbps
[Container ]......[ MatRoska (.mkv)

This above ^^^ video encoded with no problems and the audio and video were in sync.

Then when I encoded the following video;

Format: .mkv
Size: 2.18 GB
Video:
---x264
---896 x 384
---1240 Kbps
---23.976 fps
Audio:
---DD 5.1 AC3
---448 Kbps

This second quoted video when encoded through mkv2vob when played, got gradually more and more out of sync with the audio.

Similiarly the following video also had the same problem:

Format: Matroska
File size: 5.98 GiB - Split into 2 files
Overall bit rate: 3568 Kbps

Video:
Format: AVC
Format/Info: Advanced Video Codec
Format profile: High@L4.1

Muxing mode: Container profile=Unknown@4.1
Codec ID: V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
Bit rate: 3337 Kbps
Width: 1280 pixels
Height: 720 pixels
Display aspect ratio: 16/9
Frame rate: 25.000 fps
Scan type : Progressive

Audio:
Format: AC-3
Format/Info: Audio Coding 3
Codec ID: A_AC3
Bit rate mode: Constant
Bit rate: 160 Kbps
Channel(s): 2 channels
Channel positions: L R
Sampling rate: 48.0 KHz

Whereas the following video did not experience the same problem:

Format: Matroska
File Size: 1.36GB Split into 2 files

Video:
Format: AVC
Container: Main@L4.1

Codec ID: V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
Bit rate: 825 (843) Kbps
Width: 544 pixels
Height: 344 pixels
Display aspect ratio: 16/9
Frame rate: 23.976 fps

Audio:
Format: AC-3
Codec ID: A_AC3
Bit rate: 192 Kbps
Channel(s): 2 channels

I apologise for throwing all these video specs at you in one go, but it will save me having to post them later.

Anyone know how to fix this? As i said, the 1st and 4th video had no problem when encoded with mkv2vob, but videos 2 and 3 on the contrary had the problem that the audio got gradually more and more out of sync with the video.

I did also try using TsmuxeR, yet the problem still occured then and even when I tried to convert using PS3Video9 the problem occured.

I also tried changing the settings in mkv2vob, but that didn't fix it.

:thanks: in advance.

What are these MKV videos and where are you getting them?

Hi and welcome!

The most striking thing about your initial post to the Doom9 Forums is that you have created your MKVs with a multitude of differing resolutions.

Why would you do that - especially if you're going to convert the MKVs into PS3-compatible format?

Based on the resolutions you've indicated, it appears that original BluRay discs are the source for initially converting to MKVs. If so, make your life simple and use (presently freeware) "MakeMKV" to convert to MKV - in the ORIGINAL resolution of your original BluRay discs...

You know, gentlemen...when Rule 6 comes up, you can always fire up Google :p

In the present case, our OP's post contains this snippet:

[Resolution ].....[ 720*352 (Anamorph)
[Frame Rate ].....[ 23.976 fps
[Aspect Ratio ]...[ 2.47:1
[Video C/B ]......[ x264 ~1656 kbps
[Audio C/B ]......[ ND HE-AAC 6ch ~189 kbps
[Container ]......[ MatRoska (.mkv)
