First of all I want to thank DVD2SVCD for his wonderful program.

I have made over a dozen perfect backups so far. I managed that by reading the FAQ several times and by lurking here for a couple of months. All the pitfalls I encountered I managed to solve and those I haven't as yet solved are soon to be on the next release.

However yesterday I installed all the necessary components on a second computer and I came face to face with a nuisance that I haven't been able to find a solution here. Whether I select Permanent, SVCD or CVD subtitles whenever the subtitle selection window appears it comes up "crippled" there are no YES or NO buttons and no position windows. The bottom of the subtitle selection window is missing.

Sometimes if I wait the default time the subtitle selection window disappears and everything proceeds normally, but sometimes it simply hangs there forever. The subtitles selections are correct and the subtitles display correctly (except when it hangs, of course).

Any ideas? I'm using the latest version in both computers.

Configuration: Dual PIII 700 MHz non-overclocked, W2K SP2, Matrox G400 with 2 monitors and 512 MB RAM.

I had that when I made a sample with subtitles. The buttons are there - you just can't see them. It worked for me by using the "enter" key (I think I may have had to use "tab" to get there first though).

hi,

this quote comes from vcdeasy faq:

The display will be really bad (some buttons are not displayed
for example) if you have 'Large Font' instead of 'Small Font' in
'Control Panel'/'Display Properties'/'Parameters'/'Advanced'/
'General'/'Font Size'.

surely your problem is exactly the same. I will add this question in the Q&A thread.

That was the problem. The funny thing is that both computers were set up in "Large Font", both W2K SP2, both with VIA chipsets and the latest 4in1 and all other patches.

However the one with a 1.4 GHz Athlon and a TNT2 card did not show this problem. Maybe Matrox drivers are to blame. This goes to show that I should also read the associated faqs and not only DVD2SVCD’s faqs.

Anyway, thank you for your help.
