I hope I am in the right forum. This is my first time posting. I was trying to backup "Dark knight". I read through the forums , and some people confused me on what to do , and on how to do it. I installed ffdshow and haali splitter and Avisnyth and also bdre-builder. I am trying to configure the settings for each program. I want to take just the movie and put it on a bd-25. Also , I want the movie to play on my ps3. Can anyone give me a little help???

You really don't have to set any settings in any of the other programs, the only one being bd rebuilder. You have to remember also that this is a beta and still in progress. So things with inherently will not work, for example the menus won't work correctly. If I was you I would do movie only backups for the time being especially if you are backing up to a bd 25. And if your backing up to a bd25 click keep hd audio for bd25 encoding. Everything else is already set good, also you might wanna put encoder settings to highest but thats up to you. I find bd25 --> DVD9 look very very good, and also will save you 15bucks on a blank bd25. Movie only backups work good on a ps3.

read my "guide for tools" thresd. The basic instructions are in there. It's a little rough but should serve the purpose.

Just curious, On the ffdshow , I just leave the settings as is. Once I download the software, I use as is. lol. All I do is change encoder to mpeg2. Btw, Is there a difference really in bd25 and dvd9? Also Is it possible to show me snap shots on how your settings are? Since you successful copied a movie , I want to be like yours .lol thanks guys

Difference between BD9\BD25 can be virtually nothing...Or massive.
Depends on the source, how long it is, how grainy it is, how many audio streams etc. For a film of 1.5 hours with about 10-20 mins of extras and with 1 audio track and a few subtitle tracks with the audio re-encoded to AC3. You should be able to do a full disc on DVD9.
You won't get very good quality if your film is 3 hours long though for example with a load of extras.
Between those two examples it's a grey area...
Also depends on your display device....
You're going to have to try it out yourself if you want more detail than that.

This is my story now.. I converted the movie and copied it to a bd re disc.. The movie looked pretty good. I noticed like 2twice or so, I seen a little distortion. It was like pixel or rainbow or green lines or dots. It happened once or twice. Does anyone know why that happens? i was thinking about just leaving it as is, or I guess re-encoding? thanks

Try playing it from the hard drive. Maybe it was just a problem with the burn to disc.

upload a screen shot to a free image hosting sevice imageshack\photobucket etc... then use the "insert image" icon above the area where you type your message (same line as the bold\italic\underline icons etc.
get the direct html link from the upload service and your image will appear in your post.
Make sure you compress it with jpeg\png\gif first, people dont take kindly to 1mb images etc that some plonkers upload to message boards.
