Burning SVCD on DVD-R.... ?

I am trying to burn the LOTR 4-disk SVCD onto one DVD-R.
I have tried Nero, VCDEasy, and Ulead Movie Factory with no luck.
I know my DVD player will read DVD-R's, so this is really driving me nutz..
Has anyone ever done this??
Any help would be great, thanks.
