Is there any plans for including the bits per pixel with the bitrate calculator? It would be a very nice option. Maybe it could take into account cropping as well???

Edit: I'm satisfied with megui's cropping capabilities ;).

... and perhaps a little smarter cropping, because MeGUI is the only GUI who doesn't know horizontal sizes have to be mod4.

BPP is COMPLETELY useless and smarter cropping has nothing to do with bitrate calculator and BPP.

BPP is COMPLETELY useless.

Interesting. Well, I've been alright thus far. I don't know WHY it's useless IYO but I can't exactly disagree with (pedastal)"Sharktooth"(pedastal) now can I :).

coz it doesnt take compressibility into consideration. so the BPP value is meaningless for extabilishing a target bitrate.
example: a static scene with almost zeroed motion vectors will require much less bits to encode than an action scene.
so if we ipotetically based our target bitrate using an hipotetically good BPP our static scene could be great, while our action scene would look ugly...

Then how about a compressibility test ala gordian knot?

that is on my todo list. i still have to find the time do code it though...
