Do you think that in the near future we will see DVD Movies with 100MB only Or Bluray Movies With 200 MB Only ,

And i want ask why Multimedia Software's very Slow progress ?

No, I don't think so, compression improvement shouldn't exceed 20 to 25% in the next 10 years, because compression is based on algorithms, not on manufacturing technology, and algorithms need brains ;)

I can see maybe a 1080p video coming down to 3 - 4 GB at extremely high quality, but I doubt we can get down to that kind of size.

Yeah, I agree. There are limits to compression, after all. I can see transparent 1080p around 4 Mbps or something, in 10 years.

You can already do transparent 1080p on some sources at 4mbps :) Especially if you use some pretty heavy AviSynth pre-processing.

I get very nearly (for my own eyes) transparent 720p @ 3 mbps currently ;) I could probably improve that to 2.7 or 2.8 if I tweak my filtering chain enough.
