Hi All.
I have FABDvd 5232 and to the best of my knowledge I have set everything up on the DVD to DVD part of the program to copy from one DVD after decryption to a blank DVD, yet there is a problem
I have 2 optical drives, a Pioneer DVD ROM and an LG dual layer DVD burner HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B
I put the DVD that is to be copied in the Pioneer drive and the blank disk in the LG DVD burner yet when I want to path the decrypted movie to that drive instead of to a folder on my HD, FABDvd will only recognize the LG DVD burner as a CD burner!!!
If I try to run it in the presented (CD) mode I am advised that there is not enough room on the disk, obviously.
I can not find a solution to this problem. The FABDvd site is next to useless as answers are very limited and I can not find anything there that may assist.
Can anyone please me help?

I personally have never used DVDFab, but here is a possible workaround. Just decrypt the disk to your harddrive using DVDFab, and then burn using a program such as IMGBurn. Sure its an extra step, but it should work.

Thanks Merlin.
That is what I have been doing of late.
I did not have this problem with my earlier FABDvd Platinum (Express) 2.70 version, I just popped it the original and a blank into the burner, one click and it was all done.
The problem now is that DVD are more complex now and not all DVD's decrypt so readily, hence the need for the latest version. :p

Are you now using the free version or still the paid platinum version updated?

Indeed, if you have not fully activated the program this is the only way the prog will fuction at all. Happily, if this not an option for you, obtain a copy of DVD Shirnk and simply load the folder, Fab has already done the decryption.

Hi Guys.
Yes I do have the fully activated version, and that is what I have been doing, getting DVDFab to decrypt and Shrink doing the work when required.
I have had considerable success with "RipItForMe" which uses "Shrink" and/or "DVD Decrypter" and/or "Imgburn" the only problem is that encryption has been presenting a few problems of late and I needed a stronger decrypter to get the job done. DVDFab fits the bill under such circumstances.
As I have said, my main gripe is that DVDFab 5232 only recognizes my LG DVD burner as a CD burner when I use both my optical drives on the same job.
The Pioneer DVD ROM is used to read the original and the LG Burner to cook the DVD.
What I find strange is that my fully activated DVDFab 2.70 Express does not present this problem and it is a one click operation from Go to Whoe, but the decryption is not as powerful as the 5232 version.

What burning engine are you using?
If you're still using VSO, try changing it to ImgBurn as it's more reliable and solves a lot of these types of problems.

Hi Womber.
Yes I do use VSO. I have also tried using Nero 6 Ultra but the program still only registered my LG DVD burner as a CD burner. I used to have Nero 8 but I gave it the flick as I found that Nero 6 Ultra was more user friendly and did all that I required of it.
The next time I do a burn, I will give ImgBurn a go as you suggest (I will try anything), but as you can see, it is not the actual burning of a DVD that is the problem, it is that FABDvd 5232 does not recognize my LG DVD burner as such and insists on calling it a CD burner.
I tried to do a burn with the CD recognition/identification as the given CD burner just in case it was a identification glitch with DVDFab program, but before anything happened, I was presented with a warning that the media was too small.
In other words, the program was still reading the blank DVD as a blank CD.
I need FABDvd to recognize my DVD burner as just that, a DVD burner, not as a CD Burner, and I am damned if I can see ANYWHERE in the program that I can make this change.

Thus the reason to use the other progs, by running the burn from the Fab created folder. What DVD media are you using?
However, I suspect the drive might partly be the problem. Try uninstalling it from the system, on re-install see if Fab recognizes it. I'm under the impression that your other burner engines sees this as DVD and not CD. If that fails, update the firmware for the drive--g'luck.

Hi Maknapper.
When I use single layer DVD's I use Verbatim -R, 44.7Gig, 16x, but I alway burn at 2.4 speed. Nice and slow.
When Dual Layer is called for I now use Verbatim +R DL also at 2.4 speed. I tried other brands but in the long run they usually let me down. Verbatim is the only way to go I think. Penny wise and pound foolish when it comes to cheaper brands
Both my optical drives, the Pioneer DVD ROM and the LG burner HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B were flashed to the latest firmware about 18 months ago and I have not been able to find any more recent firmware updates to either.
I have as yet not uninstalled the drive from systems and then re-install because of the fact that each and every other programs that I use, be to a disk identifier, decrypter or burner ALL recognize it as a DVD burner EXCEPT DVDFab 5232, I think the problem is either with the actual program or there is an obscure setting hidden somewhere in the program that needs to be toggled.
I think I will have to send the DVDFab mob a direct email and see what excuses they give because their 'Help" section is useless.

Hi Wombler.
Well I did a complete uninstall of the offending drive and a re-install from systems, made no difference at all. I just can't think of anything else to do.
I guess I will have to get more advice as you suggested.
