In trying to get the sound and video to stay in sync, I tried a new way. I used the native mode of processing, though the autoset recommends ivtc. then I processed the sound my normal way (besweet then nandub). I watched it from disc and it was perfect. No skips in the video, the audio was perfect and in sync.

I then wrote it to CD and started watching it. right off the bat the sound was off. Now I have purchased some divx sets off yahoo and while they sometimes got off sync, mostly they were fine. so I know the hardware cannot be 100% at fault.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I now have to go back and watch the other episodes from disc to see if they are in sync. Not sure what to do if they are. they definately are not worth watching from cd.

I just played a Seinfled episode that I have in divx formation on "The Playa" and it still had problems with the sync but not as bad. I wonder if it has to do with the size of the file. I have been making these episodes in the larger sizes.

I may just have to make them and let people know they have to copy them to the hard drive in order to watch them.

I will try making one fairly small and see what happens.

Jeffg30,

You mean, of course, people that have legally purchased the DVDs and have asked you to make them copies in divx, right? ;)

Several things come to mind here.

First, The Playa has a known problem playing back anything other than CBR mp3. For VBR or ABR soundtracks you should try some of the other players out there like Zoomplayer or PowerdivxNextGen.

Second, if your CD-ROM isn't at least 24-32x you will have problems with playback directly from the CD. Check to make sure that DMA is enabled for your CD-ROM. It is better to play from the hard drive anyways because your CD reader will last longer. You also need a fairly powerful computer to run divx with VBR audio...something like a 500MHz processor.

Third, if FU says IVTC use it! The frame rate will be off otherwise.

Why certainly that is what I meant :D I figured that was understood on this board

I'll try them on realone and some of the other players.
I've been trying them on a 400 and a slow drive

As far as IVTC vs Native goes, I have done the last 2 in Native and watched them off my laptop (650mhz) and they have been perfect.

I realized later it could not be the size thing. I know others that watch in full scree mode.

don't use yahoo mail, use hushmal.com, it's pgp encrytion, and if anyone from the MPAA sees your email they want to ask you some questions. Just a suggestion to you.

cheers and keep up the posts, I get a kick out of them

I've never heard of hushmal. what difference would it make how you send it? If someone really wants to see what you are writting they will find out. I'm really not that interesting. I am fooling with this stuff only out of morbid curiosity (because it is making me pull whats left of my hair out)

I certainly wouldn't do anything such as sell them :D

I would also like to find out how to convert these to VCD. I think that would be a cool thing to know.

So far, the best I can come up with is I will have to put system requirements for my divx movies (you know, in case my wife tries to watch them :D ) because they run fine on faster machines but the sound is out of sync if I try to play it on slower machines.

Anyone think a different ripper would make a difference????
