I just got back from China and Hong Kong. On the streets on Hong Kong, I bought a region free portable DVD/SVCD/VCD/CD player made by Shinco. 5.8" tft and comes with a pretty sweet remote. Also bought a battery that plays for about 5 hours. All that was for less than $300(US)! And works great! God, I love buying stuff over there. Did I mention that the region-free DVD's (copies) that they sell over there costs about $2 (US). And the quality is at least VHS. I cant wait to see what they have in a couple years. :)

That the MPAA knows about this rampant pirating on a HUGE scale and they circumvent their profit loss by jacking up the price of DVDs for us 'in the west', introducing region codes etc. etc.

All this talk about cracking down on divx and the distribution of a few movies on the internet seems a little petty doesn't it???

But, there is something more alarming than all that. Doom9 is simply trying to educate us about our Fair Use rights as the biggest consumers of DVDs and yet this very website and Doom9 are tops on the MPAA hitlist.

Does anyone else find that a tad bit odd?
