Hi Guys

I want to give MeGUI a try but it seems that the only formats the output files can be are mp4, mkv and RAWAVC. Can I encode to wmv as all of my high-def movies I play through my Xbox 360?

I've heard that I can encode to mp4 and play back on the 360 but is this any better than wmv?

Thanks in advance.

h.264 is WAY BETTER than WMV...

The only thing megui can do for xbox360 owners is output to mp4 and 2.0 aac audio (5.1 audio in mp4 on xbox360 isn't supported).

wmv container doesn't allow h.264 video.

So you have two options:
- VC-1+5.1 audio in wmv
- h.264+2.0 aac audio in mp4

Hi Guys

Thanks for your input. Everyone says that h264 is the way forward but to sacrifice 5.1 sound is asking too much! What a shame - back to wmv it is then.

Cheers

I believe you can use 5.1 AC3 audio along with H.264 video in a MP4 container. If not with H.264/MP4, then perhaps with XviD/AVI.

blame M$ for not supporting 5.1 AAC...
at the end they will have to move in that direction unless they chose to NOT be DivX Plus Certified...
