Not sure where to put this post really. So here goes...
I have been trying to find a thing to convert Realvideo to AVI (or anything other than Realvideo!) and failed to find one at the doom9.net site, which i thought was unusual. I eventually found a program called TINRA (This Is Not Real Anymore!) which does the job (allegedly, i haven't used it yet, but will in a minute!).
Here are the relevant links, maybe it could be included in the site at a later date?

TINRA is a program to convert realvideo into raw avi. get the gui from:

There are numerous methods to transcode RM files on www.vcdhelp.com (http://www.vcdhelp.com). BTW, TINRA works by creating a huge uncompressed AVI, so it's a 50/50 chance of it working properly - just make sure you have lots of space on your HD!

I must be missing something because i can only see the TINRA method, the ingenious screen capture method (which i knew about but am waiting to use as a second resort) and EOVideo, which is only free for a fortnight and then it want's you to cough up US$35. Fair enough, but i can't afford it.
luckily, i find out from this site that TINRA 0.05 CAN compress to DivX (and presumably a bunch of other formats too) which is always nice...
Thanks for replying! I am considerably more in the know than i was this morning.
