Ok, i thought this is gonna be easy, but failed to find any information on this...
I'm trying to backup an entire DVD boxset to a single BD-R, BUT i still want my PS3 to upscale the video as if it's played from DVD.
This seemed easier than it actually is coz the PS3 does only upscale SD content from DVD or BDAV but NOT from BDMV/AVCHD. My initial thought was to just author a massive DVD project with 25GB of content and just burn the image to BD-R, but (surprise, suprise) the PS3 recognises the media type rather than the folder structure and assumes it's a data disc.
Upscaling and re-encoding for BDMV obviously defeats the object so BDAV seemed the solution since PS3 firmware 2.40+ supports upscaling of BDAV (not BDMV though).
So.. i thought great, just use tsMuxeR and convert BDMV to BDAV but to my surprise there's no such tool available other than various consumer authoring tools like Nero which will probably re-encode the video too.
Has anybody got some information on BDAV folder and file structure, specifically info.bdav? Or knows of a BDAV authoring tool that doesn't re-encode?
Thanks.
