View Full Version : DVD2SVCD / AVI2DVD Problem

I have been stressing over and trying to work out how to turn an AVI into a working DVD I can play in my DVD with no success!

I am pretty noobish in this field and dont know much about the physics of how digital videos work and after various failed attempts I found this AVI2DVD program which was working great until it tried to open DVD Author then it just came up with an error telling me to check the logs which didnt actually explain any more.

When I try to open DVD Author seperately it opens then closes straight away.

Could this be a bug or am I doing something wrong? :-)

Also, is it normal for adverts and pop up windows to appear while it is converting? Or do I have a dodgy copy?

Thanks

:stupid:

EDIT:

found log:

DVDAuthor::dvdauthor, version 0.6.11.

Hi Johno_129,
Also, is it normal for adverts and pop up windows to appear while it is converting? Or do I have a dodgy copy?
If you downloaded the software from the author's website ( www.dvd2dvd.org ) you should have version 1.2.3 build1. To disable all banners and advertising just go to the "Misc" tab and check "No banner".

Your log indicates that the input file for DVDAuthor (MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg) does not exist. This means that for some reason the muxing of the elementary streams failed. We need more info to determine the reason. Please give us the log files for DVD2SVCD and for Mplex.

Cheers

You should not receive popups.
If the banner ad is enabled, there should be a harmless advert in a small window attached the the DVD2SVCD application window.

There has been an instance in the past of advertisers abusing the author's trust and pop-up's resulting.

If during the conversion, browser windows are opening, please notify me and I shall notify the software author.

As for your problem, as manolito says, if the DVDAuthor log states the muxed file doesn't exist, muxing must have failed. If I were a betting man, I'd say you've probably got "Do not convert audio (use source audio)" checked in the Audio tab, but your AVI has MP3 (or other non-dvd-compatible) audio. If this is so, UNcheck the above option and try the conversion again, as DVD2SVCD will now convert the audio to MP2, which is allowed in the DVD Video specifications. If this still fails, let's see your logfiles please, as manolito rightly requested.

Cheers
Nick
