WMV Encoding
If you wish to encode in Windows Media formats you will need several software additions.
* The Windows Media Encoder 9 Series, which can be downloaded here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5691BA02-E496-465A-BBA9-B2F1182CDF24&displaylang=en).
* Windows Media Player 11, which you can download here (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx) for WinXP.
* If you are unable to install Windows Media Player 11, you can install the WMFdist11, which includes all the needed files. There is a mirror here (http://www.64k.it/andres/data/w/wmfdist11.exe).
* Vista User: must disable DEP. Look here (http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1261/vista_disable_dep_noexecute_protection_fix_explorer_crashing).
For 5.1 Audio look here (http://automkv.wiki-site.com/index.php/Audio_Troubleshooting). You can use FFDShow or AC3Filter
It is recommended you install wmvencoder (series 9) before you install Windows Media Player 11.

Some errors
Script error: Invalid arguments to function "is RGB" : make sure in ffdshow you have allowed the decoding of all supported file (xvid, mpeg, divx, h264/avc...)

DirectShow not talking to me..." :(
your directshow configuration isn't optimal. Don't worry, here is a hint:
download BD_Rebuilder (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143716) (it's freeware and a very good piece of software!, it really deserve your donation!!), launch BD_Rebuilder.exe
if it complain about wrong decoder configuration, say YES to adjust it.
It will reset and fix your directshow mess.

Post the Make Report!
Got a problem ? I want to help, BUT you must help me.
Please post the Make Report, so i will know all settings used.
Load your file, setup your encode as you want and click the Add to Queue button
Then click the Make Report button just down the Generate Encode!
Post the file generated

How come x264 is not in the list of available codecs? There is also no NeroAAC support.

Oh BTW, does this GUI support MT avisynth?

There is no way to just encode one file like in AutoMKV (like you must press add to quene and press start quene)?

Also, what's the deal with the changelog (v3.13)?

Buzzqw, just one question. Why the sudden change? AutoMKV was a fantastic piece of software that you've supported for years. Why start all over again, and fix the numerous bugs that are typical in an early stage of a software? If it is the need of a changable x264 settings menu, it could have just been an extra "advanced x264 settings" tab in AutoMKV.

That does seem to be a bug, as he included x264.exe in the applications folder.

Another is that .avi doesn't seem to be on the accepted files list. And it muxes my avi to mkv as soon as I select it! Is this the desired behavior?

have you NOT checked SAP Compatibility ?

1) load the file
2) hit "Analyze file"
3) set target size/codecs
4) hit start

don't understud your problem

P.S. any interest of asking for external subs when input is avs/d2v/dga ?

P.S.S for MT support i need an example of script for studing. Would be a lot better if based on avisynth script already build by hdencodertoX

i can do this:

if mt.dll is present in system folder i will add to script

Setmemorymax(512) # or more ???
SetMTMode(2, 0) # 2 or 0 ???

it's ok ?

EDIT : MT support added (as explained before)
also added the possibility to personalize the encoding profiles.

Now is missing only IFO/SUBS support for replacing automkv

Can you add a final size option?
For example, some user want to reencode some MKV to MKV. He will load the MKV, (set the resolution), set the final size and press start. He don't want to demux the streams and make some calculations (video, audio, overhead).
Some things that maybe can be added/fixed:
- preview not working for some MKV file tested
- remember last directory
- set the working directory
- fix the x264 enocoder settings (now is not available, is XViD instead of X264), but I think the default made by you are OK.
- set another default settings like: SAP unchecked, no filters to be loaded, copy audio
- delete the temporary files after closing the program.
- Also at the subtitles tab you can add an option to load some external srt subtitle.

If MKV conversion is possible, I think you can add another option called "NMT Compatibility", or other name for people with Popcorn, etc. This compatibility is needed at least for the bframes settings.

new full package HDConvertToX 0.1.18.363

fixed lots of bug on subs and more
is now possible to edit the encoding preset, just edit the profile.txt
added support for avisynth mt

@Mtz
Can you add a final size option
 already here
the main problem is bitrate computing when copying audio

preview not working for some MKV file tested
it's based on directshow, so i suggest to update your ffdshow tryout build

remember last directory
set the working directory
added in todo list

fix the x264 enocoder settings
please try this build

even X265+MKV was set, the output was AVI.
fixed

set another default settings like: SAP unchecked, no filters to be loaded, copy audio
please explain better

delete the temporary files after closing the program.
added in todo list
BUT i will not implemet this till program is beta

Also at the subtitles tab you can add an option to load some external srt subtitle.
added in todo list

If MKV conversion is possible, I think you can add another option called "NMT Compatibility", or other name for people with Popcorn, etc. This compatibility is needed at least for the bframes settings.

please take the profile.txt and post here the modified version
and i will add a check for enabling/disabling options

Tests are on a 5 minutes sample.

it's based on directshow, so i suggest to update your ffdshow tryout build
When pressing "Preview" MPC is opening and the message is: "File not found". I have the latest working ffdshow.
please try this build
Still XviD settings.
please explain better
If SAP checked the user will not see the X264+MKV. You can start the defults with SAP settings and XViD+AVI, but not to be checked that option. Maybe some users don't want to normalize because they want just to copy the audio. It remain checked (which is good for AC3>MP3) even if checked the audio to copy. ColorMatrix is checked by default. Maybe some don't want this or to denoise.
please take the profile.txt and post here the modified version
I'm not good at these settings, but I think they are included in RipBot or Megui. Not all stuff because is too much, just the NMT, PS3, Blu-Ray compatiblity. Maybe your values are already good, I don't know well.
the main problem is bitrate computing when copying audio
Maybe you'll have some idea how to do this. RipBot can do because first is demuxing the audio, Megui also because it needs the audio demuxed. I don't know if any info software can give the size of audio just after analyzing, but IIRC some version of Gspot show the size of audio. Maybe another program can show it also for other containers than avi. I see the size only at video settings.

At the Set Resolution cursor maybe you can add these values written under the cursor: 1920, 1280, 720.

please check preview.avs in hdconvert folder

Still XviD settings
sorry pal, unable to replicate

please explain step by step what are you doing
also post the queue (just add encoding to queue)

Maybe some users don't want to normalize because they want just to copy the audio
normalizing is a defaul behavior of all encoding programs,

anyway if you copy audio normalize is ignored

ColorMatrix is checked by default. Maybe some don't want this or to denoise.
colormatrix is always to use AND if not needed colormatrix will not applied itself
also, the default denoise level is very light. If user is concerned about denoising , can always change it

Maybe another program can show it also for other containers than avi
i'll check

At the Set Resolution cursor maybe you can add these values written under the cursor: 1920, 1280, 720.
... don't know about this

Ok, step by step:
- starting the program
- uncheck the SAP option
- X264+MKV
- Basic video settins > is showing the XviD settings. The encoding is done with X264
- load mkv file
- analyze. OK
- set resolution
- back to video settings. still xvid.

buzzqw, where do you change the options in x264? There is no profile selection anywhere.

Also, when I select x264+mp4, the output file name still show as avi.

I got x264 to encode now, but I can't choose the settings.

How do I save the settings like in AutoMKV?

Where is the anamorphic encoding option?

HDConvertToX must delete the temp files after an encode.

The need to analyze the video before encoding REALLY PISSES ME OFF!! It takes forever to analyze a video, and it always can't read the AR, and results in a pop up. It usually takes about 10 seconds in AutoMKV to start a quene with 2 jobs, with HDConvertToX, it takes more than a minute for each video. This will REALLY PISS ME OFF when I encode family guy, where I can encode 15 episodes a day. Imagine the time to make a quene for that.

Nooooooooooo!!

So you're saying I have to take forever to adjust the settings every time I encode a video???

The analasis of video takes too long, which will really piss people off when you need to batch encode files. In AutoX264 the analysis is WAYYYYYYYY faster. I don't mind the analysis in AutoX264 (no that's not true, I like automatic more).

buzzqw
14th March 2009, 18:22
there is only one thing that take long: the autocrop detection

otherwise the analysis is a lot faster

i can add an option to exclude autocrop from analysis

Two Basic Questions.

1. I uncheck SAP compatibility and select x264+mp4 but then when I go to basic video options tab it still says Xvid Options. Is XVid options at this point really now X264 mislabelled?

2. Will there be an option to ensure resizing can locked to different mods size 4,8,16 etc?

Chengbin
15th March 2009, 02:22
Yes, please make the analyser to not check for autocrop.

Are you saying the "save settings" feature cannot be implemented or it has not been implemented?

How can you specify a folder to save the encoded files every time automatically?

Can you make the "add to queue" button on the top as well? It makes it much more convenient.

AutoMKV's interface was incredibly convenient and simple. Why can't you make the GUI have an interface similar to AutoMKV?

Queue does not disappear after an encode.

Also, where is the auto detect for deinterlace? If you know the source is interlaced and must be deinterlaced, what filter do I choose?

When you click on the very left or very right tab in HDConvertToX, the next left/right tab doesn't go after it like in many software with tabs like these. It becomes very annoying to click the arrow buttons.

DGIndex failed sometimes. I encoded a video, stopped it in the middle. I tried encoding some video again, and DGIndex won't work. It is always at 0%, and when it finishes in a few seconds, x264 fail because it failed to open the file. I had to restart my computer to get it to work again.

EDIT: Actually it doesn't work. I'll play with this some more tomorrow. For some reason I can't get it to encode again.

Also, how do I make this encode in 23.976?

buzzqw

some miscellaneus answer

1. I uncheck SAP compatibility and select x264+mp4 but then when I go to basic video options tab it still says Xvid Options. Is XVid options at this point really now X264 mislabelled?
to be fixed in next update, BUT as son you move the slider you will get x264

Will there be an option to ensure resizing can locked to different mods size 4,8,16 etc?

i will look at it

Are you saying the "save settings" feature cannot be implemented or it has not been implemented?

actually not implemented
what informations to save ? resize/audio codec and bitrate/video codec ... and ?

Can you make the "add to queue" button on the top as well? It makes it much more convenient.

i'll check space :)

Queue does not disappear after an encode
yes, i know.
maybe i will remove it in next update

Also, where is the auto detect for deinterlace? If you know the source is interlaced and must be deinterlaced, what filter do I choose?
no autodetection (now)

in basic video options you can select the kind of patter for your movie
and so if is interlaced, film based...

Also, how do I make this encode in 23.976?
select "progressive ntsc"

DGIndex failed sometimes. I encoded a video, stopped it in the middle. I tried encoding some video again, and DGIndex won't work. It is always at 0%, and when it finishes in a few seconds, x264 fail because it failed to open the file. I had to restart my computer to get it to work again.

Doesn't work.

This is what I did.

1. I opened a VOB file
2. Chose the format (x264+mp4)
3. Chose output directory (buzzqw, you need to make this automatic like in AutoMKV)
4. Pressed analyze file
5. For some reason it crops 4 pixels for left and right, so I put 0 in both boxes.
6. Changed the resolution to 640x480 (bug in AR error. 640x480 is a perfect AR, but it still show with slight AR error, probably because of rounding)
7. Go to basic video options, select a profile (in this case x264 infinite time)

There is movie.d2v in hdconverttox folder (159KB file)

I removed it, and it still does not encode.

I will try manually load the d2v into HDConvertToX.

EDIT: Just tried loading that 159KB movie.d2v to HDConvertToX. It doesn't work.

I managed to get a screen grab. avis says error, unsupported input format (DIB)

x264 says error, could not open input file (movie.avs)

I'm also encoding something with AutoMKV right now, could that interfere?

x264 has stopped working.

My PC shouldn't have problems, because I can encode it with AutoMKV. I checked anyway, I have enough RAM. I had 300MB of RAM left when x264 stopped working.

Downgrading x264 doesn't work.

EDIT: I found the problem. For some reason it doesn't like b-adapt 2. b-adapt 0 or 1 works, but not 2

BTW, why is x264's priority at normal when it is supposed to be at low?

You're right, if I lower the number of bframes it works. But why?

EDIT: With further testing it showed that the max bframe is 10. For some reason 11 doesn't make x264 quit, but it make it stop encoding. 12-16 makes x264 to quit.

Hello again.
I've been a long time user of your AutoMKV, and I have to say this program looks way better. Especially converting my .ts recordings from DVBViewer, INCLUDING DVB Subtitles, is a feature I have never encountered before, but looked long and hard for. OK, for now the program gives me an error when trying to analyse the .ts files, but I'm not sure if it's my PC or the program. (My PC has been acting strange lately)
A few questions:
You mentioned earlier that this program is meant to replace AutoMKV, does that mean you will add support for ripping TV series DVDs, and the possibility to queue all episodes. The feature is in AutoMKV, but the queue hasn't worked in ages.
And can you please add support for the MEGui x264 profiles, as you did in AutoX264? I'm especially interested in the DXVA profiles.

Thank you, and keep up the good work!

Crono141

No, not actually.
The profile editing is very very easy (a lot more is compared with MeGui or AutoMKV). You must simply open the profile.txt and change the command line.

I'm especially interested in the DXVA profiles.
NMT check is also DVXA compliant! (i will add a tip , thanks for suggesting)

I've just tried generating an encode from a short (1270 frame) MPEG-2 (.MPG) source, and noticed that there's a difference between the quantity of frames listed in the "GUI" and the "Console Window": -

i got the frame count from avisynth AND
for avi -> i open input file with ffmpegsource
for d2v -> i open input file with mpeg2source
for dga-> i open input file with avcsource
for all other (mpeg too) -> i use directshowsource

x264 will show a number detected by mpeg2source, since before encoding i will "dgindex" (or dgavcdec) the source file

Many thanks for these quick updates, just a question, does the tools copy audio function keep Hi Def tracks? I want to backup Rush Hour 3, it has a 7.1 DTS-HD track, would this be muxed with the resulting video, or, is the dts core used as the track in the end result?

Tiny editing request to buzzqw,

Is it possible when you update the full package to also make the regular (non full-) Update to get some extra info in the TOP POST of this thread, because people don't know if this seperate update still is intended for the full update above it.

For example, now we have:

Full Download (please download also the updates) -> http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconv...0.6.97.865.rar
Update -> http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconv...ConvertToX.exe

Could be better when you update the top post so it says something like :
Full Download (please download also the updates) -> http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconv...0.6.97.865.rar
Update (NOT for full update posted here above) -> http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconv...ConvertToX.exe

or

Full Download (please download also the updates) -> http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconv...0.6.97.865.rar
Update (for v0.5.94.747) -> http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconv...ConvertToX.exe

... would be much more clear to actually get the latest version.:)

please try on a sample, and report back :)

@Betsy25

users MUST download the latest full pack AND always the update only the hdconverttox.exe as i say "update" (without mention a "full update")

but i agree that your second option

Update (for v0.5.94.747) -> http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconv...ConvertToX.exe

That's right, but whenever people find out that the updated .exe file is actually an older version than the one in the full pack, they have to completely re-install the full package again.;)

For example, if you only did a minor update to the .exe alone, you could change

I wish that higher bitrates can be selected for ac3, like 448 and 640 kbps.
When selecting x264+mkv, I suggest to change the extension under Save file ... to .mkv
Nice GUI, thanks:)

In AutoMKV under the advanced settings menu. Under aspect ratio options, there are options for anamorphic encoding, and a specify AR input box (if you don't specify, the resulting video will have a messed up AR)

Hi Buzz,

I had rather a lot of time on my hands yesterday and could not stop myself from re-designing the GUI layout...

The proposed GUI is a bit larger (at 542x574 pixels) than your current design (at 496x547 pixels). However it provides more room for future option additions: -

you don't have to copy ALL files, just the few one you need

just copy SAP or NMT (for example)

Yes, I copied
x264+mkv.txt
ac3.txt
mod16.txt

HDConvertToX will not mux the encode after encoding has finished even though there is a line of command telling it to do it.

Also, when I specify a final file size, it uses that size for the video, not for the entire file like it should of had.

When will it automatically delete the temporary files? Why can't it be in a folder named temp like in AutoMKV?

When will the file extension bug fixed? When I specify x264+mp4, and choose a save location, the ending is in .avi. (The save file should be automatic)

Why is DGindex used for a H.264 file? Why does it have to extract the video file? For some reason it says my source video is in some non standard frame rate (the source's frame rate is 23.976)

Also, why is NeroAAC settings messed up. I set the quality to 4, which I assume is equivalent to 0.40 in AutoMKV. But the resulting file is much bigger (185Kbps than 110Kbps). What quality setting should I use for a quality equivalent to 0.40 and 0.50 in AutoMKV?

In the SMD version, the deinterlace function is gone.

For some reason, I can't encode using this GUI twice. I must delete and reextract the files to be able to encode again.

Pressing the anamorphic encoding button resets the resolution, which can be annoying sometimes.

Sometimes you can't get HDConvertToX to add DGAVCIndex to the queue, and without that it seems that you can't encode files.

I really want to use this GUI, because it is almost 3x faster than AutoMKV at encoding videos with MVDegrain 3, but there are too many faults on this right now that forces me to stick with AutoMKV for a long time. AutoMKV was just so damn simple, and that's what made it fantastic. All you need is 5 seconds (literally) to start encoding a video. In HDConvertToX right now, 50 seconds isn't enough. If this doesn't change, it will really piss me off when I start encoding anime, where I can encode 10 videos a day.

@SMD

i have few question (feel free to link me thread) about stream par? and container par : is this the same as "Display par" ?"Stream Level PAR" and "Container Level PAR" offer different methods of re-shaping the video image during playback.

Containers such as .MP4, .AVI, .TS and .M2TS favour placing their PAR signalling at the "Video Stream Level" (ie: within the video stream).

Containers such as .MKV and .MOV favour placing their PAR signalling at the "Container Level" (and remove all traces of PAR signalling from the video stream).

As an experiment, if you use MKVMerge to mux this elementary .h264 video stream (http://rapidshare.de/files/46402941/720x576_AVC_Sample.h264.html) into the .MKV container, the video streams 64:45 (1.4222) PAR signalling will be removed and automatically re-allocated to the .MKV container as 1024x576 pixels.

Indeed, if you use MKVExtract to de-mux the elementary .h264 video stream and then run it thru' DGAVCIndex, it will not be able to detect any SAR (aka: PAR) signalling.

;)

When I load the .ifo and select the largest PGC, the movie duration, frame number etc are displayed correctly. However, audio and subs are only extracted for the 1st vob, and the program then just terminates.

When I load the first vob, the movie duration and frame number are displayed for the 1st vob only. However, audio, subs and video are extracted and encoded for the full movie (i.e. all vobs) as expected.

save file extension will look at container selected
fixed nero aac bitrate
mod16.txt, mod8.txt, mod4.txt will also apply to crop values

@flebber

please open the analyze.avs in virtualdub, there is any errors ?
hdconverttox use directshowsource, so be sure to have installed a decoder (haali with mpeg/ps enabled and ffdshow with mpeg2/dvd decoding activated)

@Chengbin

HDConvertToX will not mux the encode after encoding has finished even though there is a line of command telling it to do it.
in Utilities there is a "Make report" button. Use it

Also, when I specify a final file size, it uses that size for the video, not for the entire file like it should of had.
computing bitrate is different than automkv. a more precise bitrate will be present in future update

When will it automatically delete the temporary files? Why can't it be in a folder named temp like in AutoMKV?
use the SDM2 update

When will the file extension bug fixed? When I specify x264+mp4, and choose a save location, the ending is in .avi. (The save file should be automatic)
use the SDM2 update

Why is DGindex used for a H.264 file?

check the "Video Encoder" panel

try the SMD2 update
otherwise use Make Report

Pressing the anamorphic encoding button resets the resolution, which can be annoying sometimes.
only height is changed. and is due to new AR

Sometimes you can't get HDConvertToX to add DGAVCIndex to the queue, and without that it seems that you can't encode files
use Make Report

@Sharc

use SMD2 update, now mod16 (or mod8) is used for autocrop too

about dvd/pgc
please post a make report of both job! thanks!!

Remove job and Remove all job clears the list only, however it does not really remove or reset the job. When one presses Add to Queue, the new job is again added to the previous one which was apparently not cleared.
remove job will remove only the last line of jobs, remove all job will delete all the queue.

Hi Buzz,

I've just noticed something which will need to be rectified before we can proceed with generating cropped and resized encodes containing anamorphic signalling.

In the image below, the sources "Movie AR" is 2.3704, which is correct: -

http://i41.tinypic.com/rh2834.png

However, after selecting the GUI's "Anamorphic" option, the sources "Movie AR" changes to 1.6667, which is incorrect (it should be the same as above): -

http://i42.tinypic.com/25tbuhv.png

After "Analysing" the source and working out the cropping values, you should have most of the information you need to calculate the PAR/SAR value.

The next step is to follow ;)

buzzqw
29th March 2009, 18:34
ok, done http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconverttox/HDConvertToX-SMD4.exe

i have also added Stream par and container par (but don't bet a cent on correct value)

Nice one...

Next step...... This MPEG-2 source (http://rapidshare.de/files/46416694/Lawr_of_Arabia.mpg.html) is more difficult to work out because it's surrounded by black mattes

Although the "auto cropping" is functioning very well. The anamorphic "auto resizing" function is a bit off.

According to the auto cropping function, there's a total of 112 pixels (58+54) to be cropped off the height and 16 pixels (10+6) to be cropped off the width: -

http://i44.tinypic.com/124g076.png

This means the "Resizing/Resolution" should be 704x464 (not 720x480). Which just happens to conform to Mod-16.

To be continued....

buzzqw
29th March 2009, 20:53
but if you click anamorph, you can move the slider to 704 AND height will be automatically 464

i set the starting resolution to full width (not the cropped one)

should i start with the width already cropped ?

EDIT: like this http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconverttox/HDConvertToX-SMD5.exe ??

make sure that you have all required decoder

HDC use directshowsource for analysis so you need latest ffdshow tryout, latest haali media splitter

you can also open the analysis.avs in virtualdub, and check the error

I like SmoothD() for Deblocking, though I only use this only really blocky sources - flv usually.

My favourite basic filter setup is

VagueDenoiser(threshold=0, method=3, nsteps=6, chromaT=0)
asharp(2,5,1)

just thought I would pop that in.:)

Just tried a m2ts ripped from blu ray using copy audio function, but, during eac3to process, i receive error message stating audio converstion type not supported...any ideas why?

I have highlighted the eac3to command in bold/red below, as i understand it, it simply needs to demux the audio stream, and tsmuxer is required to mux both streams back after video conversion. I tested on a 60 second sample made from tsmuxer .34

Another bug...when using NMT hidden option file, i still have to manually deselect and re-select the nmt compatibility check box to get the right list of encoder and container options up. Initially, it still allows me to select xvid and avi, but after reselecting the check box, normal x264 in mkv/m2ts are only visible as they should be.

The interlaced test is launching DGIndex and/or DGAVCIndex, making the scroll to the end, finishing it, but after that HDC is crashing.
Also i will send you some file for testing the crop.

enjoy,

Perfect!:thanks: All worked ok, again, a small bug, but this time with copy audio hidden option, same thing as above, I have to manually de-select and select for option to stick, audio option are not greyed out as they should be on start of program. Maybe the rest of the hidden options need checking? Anyhow, brilliant and speedy updates!

Many Thanks!

P.S, the sample i have made is a .gsd file, is this correct? I would of thought you may want the m2ts? First time I have split using this tool. Need to confirm if I have correct tool for splitting.

Regards

EDIT:

It looked ok during encode, the resulting m2ts file has only video, no audio, looking at the meta:

Recent versions of HDC seem to crop too much into the picture (auto-cropping). Did you change the cropping sensitivity or number of sample frames?
Take for example SMD's clip of Lawrence of Arabia. It now crops top/bottom as 90/90 (not using mod16.txt) which turns it into a 2.53:1 movie. It should be 2.2:1. Earlier versions of HDC cropped correctly top/bottom as 58/54.
It would be helpful if one could do the cropping manually in a preview window using the mouse wheel :)

Given the ongoing improvements of the encoding performance of Xvid (and x264), I wouldn't have thought we're not going to loose that much by using "Mod-8"....

Sorry for the absense. About my problem; I have anyDVD running, which should decrypt on the fly, and a BR disc ISO I ripped using my PS3 (no PC BR drive). Ripbot264 encoded the same file/movie off the mounted ISO with no problem, but none of my set top boxes in the living room play the file (PS3/Xbox360). Plays on computer just fine.

ANYWAY:

I wanted to try out HDC to see if it produced a better more compatible re-encode. The file (off the mounted ISO) played in WMP12 without ripping the disc, so I don't think this is the issue.

REMEMBER MP4 cannot be larger that 4GB. X does not support 5.1 aac.

update hdc

>fixed audio copy of "dts master audio"
>fixed audio copy of "ac3 ex"
>fixed audio copy of "ac3 surround"
>fixed NMT.txt and SAP.txt hidden options
>fixed problems when copy audio with new audio formats
>fixed audiocopy.txt hidden options
>fixed ar detection of some m2ts
>fixed audio copy of "truehd/ac3"
>fixed audio copy of "embedded ac3"
>fixed audio copy of "core.dts-es"
>added ffmpegaudio.txt as hidden options. when this file is used and input isn't directly supported (like flv) , audio is pre-processed to stereo wav with ffmpeg (if ffmpeg.exe is present in \applications folder) then passed to eac3to
>added "Crop obey to AR". This options will force autocrop to obey and respect aspect ratio detected by eac3to
>other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes

I took a look at HDConverTox screen shots, (the one of the AviSynth tab is missing ;) ), it looks more tidy and intuitive.
As an idea for the future I'd just add a tab for the final muxing options.

Anyway, are you aiming to make HDConveTox take over completely from AutoMkv, for all functions?

I added ffmpegaudio.txt to my hdc folder but it doesn't appear in the log.

buzz, when selecting save file, it does not automatically input the extention, I have to manually type ".m2ts" when saving it, can this be automated for all file extentions? And, is there currently a function like in automkv where i can save my settings, as i have to keep setting quality bar everytime the program opens.

regards :D

buzz, when selecting save file, it does not automatically input the extention,

it does (just tested) , BUT it don't change when changing container/codec

EDIT: redownload HDC, and create a qualX.txt ; where X can be 1 2, 3 4 5 6 .... and is the quality at start

Is it possible to keep the full resolution (720x576) with this software?

Have tried an early beta of this software and then it changed the resolution on the output file even if I specified that the cropping was 0,0,0,0

I dont want to do any resize on my encoding and keep the full resolution at 720x576.

Is this possible? (It worked just fine in AutoMKV....... :sly: )

Hi EEPROM and thanks for your kind words :)

i can only suggest to use the forum search, you will be overwhelmed by results ;)

I hoped in a real guide, but thanks anyway.

A quick question, for a standard encoding(from a dvb-s registration), which combination of filters should I use?
Thanks again !

@flebber
need a sample (but it's again a problem within eac3to)

have you tried without -resample48000 ?

UPDATE HDC

>fixed in log was missing ffmpegaudio hidden options
>fixed some tuning to make report
>fixed manual with new options
>added hidden options qualX.txt. Create a qualX.txt, and HDC will start with a quality preset set at X value. X value must be from 0 to 10
>added support for ass/ssa subtitle in mkv
>other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes

buzzqw, getting some x264 crashes now, rebooted, re extracted package and added new update, any ideas? the video is 1080i 29.970, just tried again, now crashes on analyze..ill check other files and report back, may just be media itself...all other media is ok, ill try re-rip and report back.

EDIT

Must be disc it self, can't even play stream using mpc-hc, bd rebuilder does not even start the encode....never had problems with any other disc in the series, it's a 5 part set, disc 5 is the only 1 giving troubles, other 4 at 23.976, this 1 only at 29.970...wierd....ill upload sample for you to test with shortly...:D

Plays on my NMT fine though...

EDIT 2!

I seperated the m2ts using hdbrstreamextractor (mkv, and AC3), now it is running through fine. Either tonmt is not ripping correctly, or, hdc didnt like converting this m2ts when it got to the video process... don't know, but, hdc is now encoding fine with .mkv video only, made with hdbrstreamextractor, i will mux audio manually afterwards using tsmuxer. Thanks!

Donation sent as well.

My previous DVD (from the sample I sent to you) still not cropped well, even checked "Crop obey to AR":
http://thumbnails8.imagebam.com/3160/8042ee31599074.gif (http://www.imagebam.com/image/8042ee31599074)

Should be:

Another:
when going to audio tab, the "Coding tech" is checked by default, but at bitrate is still nero there.

OK, thanks!
Offtopic: some guys which are creating some firmware for NMT/MC (WDTV for example), should read this thread to understand how is working a real "customer support", not to wait 4 months to fix 2 bugs which of course are not fixed.

Now is starting with nero instead of Coding and everything OK.
I don't know if users know about the "Quality" settings in nero, but for example when I use BeHappy for encoding the audio to AAC I can use bitrate instead of quality.
http://thumbnails9.imagebam.com/3161/5f804c31601692.gif (http://www.imagebam.com/image/5f804c31601692)

Maybe SMD can tell us more also for NMT compatiblity.

I think someday you'll can predict the final size and maybe bitrate is good to guess better the final size of encoding.

buzzqw the audio handling with ffmpeg appears to be working fine with both mono and stereo input.

There is one issue in confirming this. Though I can see the process works I can't locate the output file. It isn't located in my C:\Rip\Produced\ output folder I have searched C:\Rip\HDConvertToX_0.7.119.1194\temp\ and my PC but I cannot find it  I have tried 2 files one mono and one stereo.

@spida_singh

Thanks!

Donation sent as well.

using your dvd sample

what about editing the "Display AR:" from 1.3334 to 1.7778 ?

@yeye69

sorry, this application will be windows only
i will back on AutoX264 for linux

and don't warry, i have 3 pc at home, and ALL runs linux (fedora 10 (my pc), ubuntu (wife), debian lenny(htpc) )

I think is complicated for newbies. The first thing should be fixed is the L/R crop.
I know is a dark movie and autocrop is hard but maybe you can create a sample DVD with 16:9 in 4:3 with black frame for more testings.

enjoy,
Mtz

buzzqw
3rd April 2009, 16:29
sorry pal but using your sample even with 100 frames analyzed i get wrong crop :(

i could add some options for tweaking crop (like hidden options)...

but.. any suggestion is welcome

anyway this file is difficult, other sample have correct crop (as lowrence of arabia , from SMD, got cropped all around correctly)

BHH

Mtz
3rd April 2009, 16:39
Yep, maybe one set to not crop L/R because seems that Up/Down is OK even on that sample. Most of movies (maybe 99%) just need Top and Bottom crop. And 1/2 pixels for L/R can be ignored by the newbies because some advanced users will crop manually.
Also the analyze for crop to not be made in the begining of the movie because there are many times some logo which can create problems.

enjoy,
Mtz

buzzqw

i will start analysis at 125' frames

and.. btw, on next update, using the d2v from this vob will crop the correct value (test this http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconverttox/HDConvertToX-crop.exe )

BHH

Mtz
3rd April 2009, 17:38
On the full DVD test still cropping 72 for L+R. If it starts the analyze of cropping between frame 125 and 170 should output the correct crop because the image is OK for cropping, but after frame 200 can be some errors in autocrop analyze because there is a logo with left and right black borders.
Maybe the LR values are because HDC is trying to keep the AR?

It is correct this value: Trim(0,2) in analyze.avs ?

enjoy,
Mtz

yes

yes, autocrop is before trim, so is on full source

Hi,

For the Autocrop difficulties, why not take a but more samples like below.
MPEG2Source("C:\My DVD \rip\Movie\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.d2v")
ConvertToYV12().AutoCrop(mode=2,samples=100)

A value of 100 samples would make more sense to get the correct crop values ?

buzzqw
3rd April 2009, 21:20
would be very slow

anyway.. try latest http://www.64k.it/andres/data/hdconverttox/HDConvertToX-MTZ.exe

crop should be ok, and fast

BHH

Sharc
3rd April 2009, 22:29
Well, speed is not really critical. Better slower and correct than fast and wrong plus doing it manually at the end anyway ....:(

@buzzqw

Compression Test seems to run with a default crf=20 for x264. That's fine for a general compressability test.

However, when I select 1-pass encoding I would prefer if the compression test would run with my crf setting in the Video Encoder Tab, because the Compression Test would then give me an estimation of the expected file size. This could be very helpful to check if my 1-pass encode will fit on say a 4.7 GB disc.

Further, it appears that HDC crashes if I enter a sample size <1, say 0.5. Small samples sizes <1 should be sufficient for large BluRay files I guess.

flebber
4th April 2009, 00:54
When selecting QMF filter fluxsmooth.avs encoding exits shortly after audio encoding. I ran the same video and encoding settings twice only removing from one.

HDC only exits when QMF selected.

@sharc

update hdc (redownload hdconverttox.exe)
now compression test accept decimal value
and compression test use the same value as display in crf/cq (only when encoding is 1 pass quality)

@flebber
got the error
will be fixed in next full package
meanwhile you can open the QMLF_7_motions_FluxSmooth.avs and edit the fourth line as this
function f_m0(clip c){return c.FluxSmoothT(3)}

I will also thanks all truly Supporters that have already clicked on "Donate" button. :thanks:!

Very strange: I choose x264 in MKV and the final movie is x264 in AVI.

x264 in avi ?

use the Make report in utilities

hdc doesn't allow x264 in avi...

Something you may want to consider for a future release:
The Stream PAR now indicates the PAR of the source.
When I do an anamorphic encode of a non-anamorphic source, the PAR (=SAR in x.264) actually changes. The same is true when I enter a new value as Widht or Height which will also affect the PAR.
I suggest to dispaly the recalculated PAR and add it to the command line of the encoder, i.e. in case of x.264 it would be like --sar x:y.

And a minor issue:
When selecting a subtitle, the NONE should automatically get deselected.

i will consider this.

just for your information... you can leave NONE selected too.. and hdc will process other subs ;)

Mux Subtitles in MP4/MKV file: What if I select m2ts as container? Will the subtitles be lost?

When I select as Audio Options ac3/448kbps/6(5.1) the original dts hi-res audio gets encoded at 640kbps (using libav) rather than my specified 448kbps. Is this a bug?

Finally, It would like to be able to enter crf values with 1 decimal, e.g. 22.5, because differences in file size using integer steps only can be significant.

@Sharc

update hdc

in m2ts now is possible to mux SRT subtitle (even language tag is reported.. but i cannot test it)

about ac3 bitrate
i cannot set it, eac3to use 640 (bitrate will be disabled in next update)

eac3to extracts *.sup from the original m2ts (BluRay). Can't these .sup be remuxed into the new m2ts? Do I have to convert the .sup to .srt (text format)?

ac3 bitrate downconversion to from 640 to 448 kbps:
Hmmm, I think this can be done with libAften. Maybe you will think about including it in the HDC2X package ....

Suggestions:
- when set SAP, value for X to be 720 after Analyze and for NMT 1920. Many times these are the values, but sometimes don't. If the source is SD, to not offer an upscaled value. If is good this ideea, to put back the SAP and NMT options on "crop & resize" tab.
- in workfolder.txt to write D:\HDC\
- in !README.txt to add more advices like: try to use only one hidden file for each option
- also try to rename profile.txt to something like HDConvertToX_profile.txt because when user want to make some cleanup in hdc folder is possible to delete it.
- in the future, to include HD Streams Extractor if possible

Crop is working better now.
Deinterlace test seems to never end

D:\Temp>"C:\Program Files\HDConvertToX\applications\PgcDemux.exe" -pgc 1 -nocell
t -nolog -noaud -nosub -nom2v -vob "H:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_0.IFO" "D:\Temp\"

D:\Temp>"C:\Program Files\HDConvertToX\applications\dgindex.exe" -FO=0 -OM=0 -YR
=2 -AIF=[d:\temp\vts_01_1.vob] -OF=[D:\Temp\movie] -exit -minimize

DGIndex started but seems to do nothing. I can't see the file: "vts_01_1.vob" in my working folder.

enjoy,
