After reading this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=145425&highlight=cbhd) new on the main page I was wondering if anybody knows something about the copy protection behind the CBHD / CH-DVD. On wikipedia it only mentions that it is more protected than HD-DVD but is says nothing more.
Btw. Unlike aacs the specs are not available from the licensing agency (at least on the english page). This couldn't prevent the compromise of obscure protctions like CSS and BD+ before. :)

No specifications available. All I know is that it can use either AACS or DKAA, something new they developed.

In their words, from here (http://www.chinahda.org.cn/en/why-cbhd.html):

Regarding the content protection, considering the requirement of international content providers and the cost of manufacturing CBHD disc, CHDA developed a new technology named DKAA for content management. For domestic movies, DKAA will used while AASC is implemented for international movies.

I can't imagine this generating much interest in the outside world, other than a mere curiosity, same as with all other Chinese-specific implementations. Decrypting international content on CBHD shouldn't be hard, as it's only AACS. Decrypting Chinese content on DKAA should be harder, as it's a new technology. But since the content is Chinese, I would expect the bulk of the effort to come from within China itself, and not outside.
