Hey folks,

When trying to convert a DivX I made from a DVD into VCD format using TMPGEnc, I have a little problem with the audio.

The soundtrack seems to distort in a strange tinny sort of way.

I believe the original track was 2.0 AC3 which I converted to a 48000 wav, normalized and then encoded as a 128k 16 bit mp3 using the Radium codec before combining with the video file.

I guess TMPGEnc doesn't like re-encoding this audio file.

Any diagnosis'? Any advice? There's a hundred bucks in it for ya. Well, not really but...

Thanks!

what if you follow my divx -> vcd guide and do the additional step required for vbr mp3 audio?

waiting for my 100 bucks ;)

Thanks Doom9 but that ain't it. There's nothing to suggest that the file is VBR mp3 audio either, I'm afraid.

The distortion sounds as though the levels were originally too high but with that compressed kinda noise.

I've tried various DivX's but with the same result and, come to think of it, once experimented with the wav file before compressing it to mp3. Could this ultimately then have something to do with the normalization process, perhaps rendering the audio levels too high for TMPGEnc's liking?

doesn't matter if it's vbr or not.. just apply the method.. if the mp3 is fine winamp won't ruin it.. and besweet is much better at resampling and mp2 encoding that tmpg will ever be.
