View Full Version : Problem with MEGUI IVTC and varying field order
Since this has turned into a deinterlacing thread, I'd like some advice on a problem with MeGUI IVTC. I encoded some South Park DVDs to AVC some months ago. They were telecined with varying field order. The IVTC algorithm used by MeGUI messed the field order up from time to time (see sample (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=2b3f1d0e5100fc5708f8df73f2072ed6e04e75f6e8ebb871)). Suggestions?

Post your original source material from the DVD. Your encode has apparently damaged things.
I don't have it with me right now but I'll post it in a few days.
Stay tuned.
I uploaded a sample cut from the vob here (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=2b3f1d0e5100fc5708f8df73f2072ed6e04e75f6e8ebb871).

Load with DGIndex. Set Honor Pulldown Flags and save project. Things look fine then with:
assumetff()
telecide()
decimate()
I don't see any varying field order.
I found it. MeGUI wanted me to use AssumeTFF().Telecide(guide=1).Decimate(), which led to small errors like the mouth here

So I tried experimanting with different settings within MeGUI but none of them worked well (I ended up with the sampe I uploaded originally which was ok most of the time but had a huge error in that section). Using telecide with default guide works.
Thank you.

Pattern guidance does not work well with intermittent animation, as the 3:2 pattern is obscured.
