I still have this problem for the past couple of weeks. Iam trying to encode a movie to fit a 25gb disc. I used anydvd to rip the whole disc , and then I use tsmuxer to get just the main movie and an audio file. aFTER THE Tsmuxer encode , my new bd is 29 gb's. Now im trying to use the bd rebuilder to get the movie to 25gb. I load the movie, and it says your output is 23 gbs. Once the program finishes i get a workfiles folder and a new folder. My work files folder is 15gb's and my new folder is 8gb's. I am confused can someone help me?? I dont understand what to do next. I was told just take the new folder but it seems kind of small to fit on a blu ray disc.

Thank You everyone

did you restart BD-RB after selecting BD25 output size...Do that then see what happens. You'll have to encode again obviously.

Edit...just noticed you said it's been doing it for a couple of weeks. If you want help then you gotta be more descriptive of your problem (i.e the circumstances) As a minimum, what Bluray is it?

Can you try it without preprocessing, just let BD-RB do the whole process. Just select what you want within BD-RB, audio to keep, subs, etc.. and BD-25 output. Undersizing has been reported before, thus why you should give it a try without any preprocessing. To hard for jdobbs to track down problems when you preprocess!

so if it undersizes that means I click on the box to undersize?

Can you check to see what bitrate BD-RB used for reencoding and what type of audio file/files you are keeping. Post the .ini and the .inf and the bd-rb logs so we can see what has happened.

Unfortunately, the information you have posted is for version 19.01. Now that 20.01 has been released you should try it again and see if the changes has helped. Some of the changes effect the undersizing issue.

can you link me the software ?

Since TS Muxer is included with BD RB tool choices, why to you need to use it first. Have you tried just letting BD RB do all the work?

That depends on whether you want to copy the movie and all the extras, or just the movie. If you're using a BD25 disc, then there's not much reason not to do the full movie copy. If you're using a BD5 disc, then you should probably stick with the movie only, if you're using a BD9 disc, you can toss a coin to decide, if you want to. :)

I usually stick to a Movie Only copy for a BD9 too...

LCOHEN448

iam picking movie only because I want just the movie. I am using a bd-25. If I choose full, it will take longer...

Will this help you

Step back and re-read the Backup Guide posted, make sure all the necessary software... Avisynth, ffdshow, Haali splitter,Windows Media Player 11 are installed. Reboot computer. Run ffdshow and make sure proper decoder codecs are selected. Then try again. Hang in there, sometimes just getting the proper setup is the problem.

LCOHEN448
2nd March 2009, 00:58
in ffdshow what re the proper codecs.. I see make sure vc -1 is disabled.. what else should I set?

GaPony
2nd March 2009, 03:37
The FFDshow video decoder setting for mpeg-2 has to be enabled for libavcodec...other than that, the installation defaults are correct.

Re-reading and double checking the BD-Rebuilder Guide thread would be helpful.

ok the file was created and the disc image was created. I tried to play the file with powerdvd it says no disc in drive. what does that mean? Should I just burn it to a blank disc?

Capsbackup
5th March 2009, 04:02
PowerDVD does not like to play BD files from the hard drive. You could install Daemon Tools or SlySoft Virtual Clonedrive to play back the image file with PowerDVD. I would suggest you test a few rebuilds to BD-5 size and burn to DVD+RW to make sure you have some success first, then proceed to DVD+R DL or BD-25 discs. Unless you need some coasters around the house.

LCOHEN448
5th March 2009, 04:04
well i installed slysoft's tools. It tells me the same message. The image is 22.5 gg. I made it so I can burn it to a blank bd-25.

Capsbackup
5th March 2009, 04:11
Perhaps you could test to a BD-RE first, and see if the playback is acceptable and all features work on your Bluray player. It should play back with PowerDVD, once you have the image mounted. I'm not sure what that issue there is. Does your PowerDVD version support BD playback?

LCOHEN448
5th March 2009, 04:14
Yes.. I have the powerdvd bluray suite.

Capsbackup

yes,, original blu rays do work.. It is the full version...

5th March 2009, 04:23
@LCOHEN448

Sounds like your system (either videocard or CPU or both) may be inadequate for BluRay playback by PowerDVD (Whether it is TRULY capable may be an entirely different story).

To find out, run the PowerDVD "BD Advisor"...

LCOHEN448
5th March 2009, 04:24
can i read a m2ts file ?

Capsbackup
5th March 2009, 04:33
If you can play back the original disc, it sounds like you now have to figure out how to get the image to play back with PowerDVD. Or, just burn a disc and see what happens. I like to test to rewritable media if I am not sure or have not had success before... but thats just me.

LCOHEN448

okay. thanks for your help... Iam undecided right now then, lol

You would be pleasantly suprised to see how good a BD-5 would turn out on a movie like this that is less than 2 hours long. Either use 448kbps AC3 or 640kbps AC3, movie only will look great. Then if you are happy with the results, you can burn that BD-25 you already created, with some confidence from your BD-5 test. Good Luck!

LCOHEN448
5th March 2009, 05:05
I was just thinking..........

I ripped the whole disc to my computer. NOw I selected the movie only portion option. It re-encoded and made a complete structure. Do I need that acvhd program because i made a bd-25 to play on my ps3.

thank you

GaPony
5th March 2009, 06:27
No.. you might just need to check the block for "Stricter compliance for AVCHD" in settings, or simply delete the AUXDATA folder.

Actually... I'm not sure you understand exactly how this program works... I think you've got me confused with what you're doing, anyway.

It has been reported that the PS3 does not seem to like full backups on dvd media but on bd media might be ok. I do not own a PS3, so I am not much help there. Movie only backups should be ok on dvd media. That is why I suggest testing on dvd media first to make sure your setup and rebuild is working correctly before burning to the more expensive bd media. If it is a full movie backup, bd media is the way to go. If you just want movie only, dvd media should be ok.

The PS3 absolutely will not play a full movie backup from a BD5/BD9. It will play a full movie backup done to BD25.

BD backup (burned to DVD5+RW) of Training Day works fine on my PAL PS3.

GaPony

Was that a full movie backup or a movie only backup?

The way you see it here:

Nothing stripped. Menu works, extras show, audio plays, subtitles are present.

GaPony
7th March 2009, 18:05
There has got to be some fundamental difference between your PS3 and the US version... Maybe that's why your Go BD tool works for you, but not US (NTSC) users.

deank
7th March 2009, 18:56
Yes, earlier in another thread I ask what kind of PS3 you own, because PAL PS3 plays both PAL and NTSC content and is more tolerant than the US version.

This could be the issue.

turbojet
10th March 2009, 00:29
Is the tolerance from the hardware or from the firmware?

GaPony
10th March 2009, 02:44
I'm not sure I even want to know, at this point. Frankly, how the PS3 works is a complete mystery to me. Everytime I turn around, someone is doing some new facinating thing with a PS3 that it was probably never intended to do.
