I am trying to make a video file for the iPhone. I used the iPhone video profile, and the AAC-LC audio profile. I let MeGUI mux the streams.
The resulting .mp4 won't load into iTunes. There's no error reported, but it just doesn't load.
When trying to play the .mp4 with QuickTime, it gives an error:
Error -2041: an invalid sample description was found in the movie
(movie-name.mp4)
VLC can play the file without problems.
I'm stumped. Is there any way to create iPhone-compatible files with MeGUI?

try to rename it as m4v or 3gp...
if that fails, then remux your file w/ MP4Creator.

Tried both suggestions, it's always the same error.
I guess that means there's something wrong with the video and/or audio tracks. But I thought I made the tracks compatible with the iPhone.
Video is made with the iPhone profile, 480x272, 200 kbps.
Audio is AAC-LC, joint stereo mode, CBR @ 96 kbps.

I don't know if this has been fixed or not, but used to be you needed to include:
assumefps(24000,1001)
in your avs file to ensure the output was compatible with itunes. (assuming your source is 23.976 fps)

set the video stream to .264 (NOT .mp4!!!) and audio to .m4a...hit autoencode and select .mp4 for final mux...go to queue...you should have >.m4a + .264 = .mp4...i do encodings for iphone daily and i have no problems...

Hmm, I'm not having any problems with it. Have you tried to reinstall iTunes or update it?
Try to increase the bitrate and see if it plays.

I have an iPod Touch and it supports anamorphic encodes just fine...

I was told to try iPodME instead, and it works just perfect. Problem solved.
