I was just looking at the differences between SBC, V2, WM8, DivX, OpenDivX and the uncompressed file. And to me as well as doom9 that DivX and V2 seem to be the worst ways to encode and that SBC was the way to go bar none. I just want to get your thoughts on that cuz to me on my DivX 4 movies they seem more than fine but that's just becuase I haven't had it up to 5 or 6 other formats of encoding.

As well, can you do dolby digital etc with SBC if anyone who reads or answers would know.]

So let me know what you think about DivX4 and SBC.

thanx ppl.

i allways use divx4, because i don't have the time to play around with sbc options. and divx4 gives me very good results using gknot and divx4log without reencoding x times, looking for sbc-settings that will improve quality.

but i always go for 2 cd's with 2 audiostreams. if you want to go for 1 cd rips then sbc is worth the work. (IMHO)

Shit!
I use Nandub and quality is damn near perfect!
Honest to God true example..... give my word and swear on my Grandmothers grave!

My wife had her friend come over after work. They work together.
She brought her husband, I showed them one of my DivX movies :D
They did not no! The first thing her husband said was is that a DVD?
I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing! This was a 1CD rip of the movie Fast and the Furious! Now me I would have saw that movie and knew.... but the average person cant tell ;)
You get what you put into it. And its not hard or time consuming after you learn it. I dont care what anyone says. I'm tired of arguing and flaming! The proofs in the pudding and my DivX got it!

Peace

I know DivX 4 is really good cuz I've been doing them myself and they all turn out perfect but when compared to the SBC on a page somewhere on this website it compares the examples I gave to you at the top and SBC by far has better quality than DivX 4, so it looks to me. I was just wondering from ppl who have done either both or know of both to respond as to which was actually better or if it was just me and doom9 who thought SBC was better. DivX4 is really good to me but if SBC is that much better, according to doom9, then I'm goign to attempt to conquer the SBC format.

Thanx ppl.

Like DivX3.11a is going any where.....
And I'm already using XVID and liking it!
Very stable and good, and its in Alpha stage ;)
I could careless if DivX4.xx is legal! Its not the best! And if I want a damn 2cd rip I make a kickass VCD using TMPGEnc.
BTW just how soon do you see DivX3.11a and Nandub going away?
I wanna mark it on my calender and be ready!

I read and saw in the news where MS and HomeDVD makers are getting together and releasing HomeDVD units that support WMV/Mpeg4.....
Its supposed to come out this year or next if I remember correct.
So do we really need to change codecs and get some nails out?
:scared:

I did not say its better than SBC. I said its good and I have not encountered any problems with it. It works well for DivX video capture to.
Goto the forum section about other codecs, you will see Doom9 and others are discussing it there.

Well the interesting thing about XviD, at least for you DivX3/nandub freaks out there, is probably that its coming with SBC lately .... its supported in nandub now if i'm not mistaken .... but h and teegedeck can tell you more in the 'alternative codecs' section ....

Well, not that Nandub supports it, but you need GordianKnot to calculate .stats-files for 2nd pass. BTW, I've got a short XviD-how-to as good as ready, to make the change from DivX 3.11 or DivX4.xx to XviD as smooth as possible ;) - but right now absolutely can't finish it, as I cannot have a look at the codec's config (I'm sitting in front of a 7-year-old Mac, right now) and it would be quite confusing for everyone if I constantly used wrong names for all the settings... :o
