As some of you know I am new to this whole process. However, I am learning more each day. I finally was able to use Fair Use, BeSweet, then nandub to make the .avi file. However very often, the sound gets out of sync. I have to stop it, then slide the forward bar to where I left off. It might last a minute or two them it is out of sync again. also, sometimes it looks as if the video kind of goes in fast motion for a couple of seconds.

I see a lot of files .fud and others after it parses out the DVD. I have always used the file that is simply the shortest name thinking that is the only file you use for making the avi. I have tried everything from 128kbs to 600kbs the audio thinking that would help. I don't notice much difference.

I tried to use Madrona but the sound quality was very poor and seemed to fade in and out.

my question I guess is....can you use many of these files that Fair Use creates to see which one works best? is there a "Best" setting for the audio? Is there a better way to merge the sound then BeSweet and then Nandub? I have heard Vidomi is good, I thought I would give that a try....however I heard you have to use somthing like smartripper first..? wouldn't that be doing the same job that Fair Use is doing? Now that I have a bit of an idea of what is going on, I like Fair Use. ALthough I don't like it taking 7-8 hours to make a 350MB 128kbs file. I thought I could save that output to play with later but that comes to like 4 or 5 GB...

I guess I am just at a point where I need a Yoda to help me understand what the force is trying to say and what kind of files I can fool around with to get a perfect mix of video and audio. I have not tried a whole regular movie yet, I have been working strickly with the Sopranos first season.

i would use the option in besweet to output to wav tagged mp3 and use cbr mp3 - 128 is good "in my own opinion" and they use virtualdub to mix the wav audio with avi and set it to direct stream copy for both audio/video - takes not long at all and great results for the rips i have done with nicely synced audio - also somtimes using the playa gets rid of sync problems - hope i helped

I always use "the playa" to view them. To me it's the best viewer available. However, that doesn't help the sync problem. I plan on trying a few different ways today. I'll try yours.
It sucks because I was up to episode 12 of 13 but going back and viewing them, the otheres have to be redone because the sound is always getting out of sync.
