Can the provider be left blank instead of adding 'PGCEdit v9.2' ?

With version 7.x and 8.x it could be left blank.

Add something like a "-" in the field. That will do it.

It's useful to see what version of PgcEdit you used, if needs be. And it is no harm at all.

Can there be an option added to not add 'PgcEdit' and allow blank provider ID's?
Like it's done for years.

OK, I did it.

There is now a new sub menu Options -> Input Output -> Set Default Provider ID, where you can select "PgcEdit [version]" (the current behaviour), "User defined" (where you can define your own default string, including a blank string if you wish), or "Never change it" (the previous behaviour).

Note that the provider ID is never changed when it is not empty and it is not set to a known ripping tool ID.

OK thanks I will calmly await it's release, no rush.
