View Full Version : When splitting finished movie, what about the delay and interleaving values??

I've got a question:

When i've got finished a movie that is supposed to fit on two cds and has muxed abr mp3 using nandub with correct delay and a interleaving value of all 10 or 15 frames and i want to cut it into two parts using the nandub option "jump to last key frame in first xxxMB" what delay values and interleaving values do i have to use?

I mean if the 1400MB movie has perfect sync audio (delay was for example 1000ms) interleaved every 15 frames and i cut it and set the new delay value again to 1000ms will audio be asynch by 1000 ms or just fine? is the delay just a switch in the avi header or something like that or is it really muxed with this delay and you can't get this value later from a muxed avi? Same with interleaving but i think that this should work as audio is extracted and then inteleaved( correct if thats wrong).

Your making this to difficult:D

Just mux your audio and split at the same time. Trust me, it will work fine.

EDIT-
Any reason why your interleaving every 15 frames compared to 1 or 2? Never heard of anyone using that high of a value.

i know that it is difficult that way. that's the reason i'm askin' :D . i normal cut and mux at the same time, but then u can't use the nandub function "jump to last keyframe in first x MB", because the mp3 file will be ignored.

and i'd like to know that anyway.:p

I use 15 frames (what is 600ms for a pal movie) because as mp3 blocks are pretty small i heard u should use larger values. I think every frame is good for wav or other larger files. and 15 frames works perfect for playing from a cd, never had any problems.

you have to set the interleave again when splitting, the delay stays in the file (i think)

Why don't you mux at 500ms preload, interleave every 1 frame and then use 'File' -> Save Segmented Avi with a value of xxxMB.

It'll do everything you want all at once. ;)

Saving the segmented file doesn't ensure it will split at a keyframe though. True?
