View Full Version : Upconverting to HD with VirtualDub

Hi!
I was messing about with upconverting to HD, and this is what I've come up with.
I used VirtualDub and the warp resize filter which actually produced very nice
results which then I sharpened.
I know that upconverting will never be real HD like the source, but its not that bad.
Especially with cartoons and anime, it actually looks nice IMO:p.
However with real-life content the image changes a bit.
I didn't use the original dvd but 700MB ripped Xvid versions as the source.
The filter is very good at finding the line between light and dark areas.

On this last image a denoiser or cleaner can help a lot.

I've always taken better results with natural DXVA upconverting.

(BTW, i suppose you are using Ati, do you? :) )

I did this on a notebook with an integrated graphics card (ATI,x1250)
I really like the south park results :D

There are far better tools for resizing than warpsharp. NNEDI is your friend.
